The P965 chipset, without any integrated graphics, should potentially consume less power than the other i965 chipsets. However, the difference is minimal (<2W) and insignificant to the point where the potential loss or gain may not be reflected between motherboards of different manufacture. I would ...

I'd just like to point out that AM2 and 939 are both K8, along with all 754, 1207 and 940 socket Athlon64, 64 FX, X2, and Turion processors. But it is worth mentioning that AMD is no longer producing 939 processors, with exception of the Athlon64 X2 4800+, and should be stopping right about...now. I...

Uh, that board supports SATA, therefor it supports eSATA. You just plug the eSATA cable into a SATA header and power cable. When a motherboard has eSATA, that means it has powered SATA plugs on the I/O panel. Edit: I can see how this is unclear. Let me rephrase... You plug your eSATA port into a SAT...

Or better yet: try to start a company-wide program to set up F@H on all the workstations. When I was the admin of a fairly large business/school, I had no problems using the computing power to fold (although USB drives pissed me off to no end-they're viral nightmares) but it turned out not to be fea...

Practical upshot: it comes down to price and who you like better. Surprisingly, Intel beats AMD on idle power consumption (12W v 17W) and at full load (27/28W v 37W).

And that video card recommendation too. It sounds like you should be fine with integrated video; I think a G33 motherboard is in your future, assuming you can live with a micro-ATXboard. There are a couple of ATX boards, although they're more expensive they're still cheaper than a P35 board plus a ...

Even with 8800GTXs, there isn't any appreciable drop in FPS between x8x8 and x16x16 boards. You can, in some circumstances, force a drop, like by lowering the resolution and disabling anti-aliasing...but why would you ever do that? Still, if you can't afford SLI from the get-go, it usually makes mor...

Notice how much thicker the vanes are on the U120E are; I forget, are they aluminum or nickel-plated copper? In any case I suspect it works better simply by carrying more heat away from the heatpipes. More fins and a greater in^2 matter for dick if they're not effective cooling surfaces. My guess is...

I'd recommend getting a P35 board from a board partner that isn't Intel. You'll save money, have more/better features, and generally better support and warranties. Gigabyte's a great company, I'd pick them. I also like the passive options in the HD 2000-series cards. Best overall video playback, too...

I did a little reading and it seems you want a motherboard with an AGP 1x/2x slot, or universal 1/2/4x or 1/2/4/8x slot. The Voodoo 5s need that 1x/2x lovin'. Those are really hard to find; mostly you'll only find AGP 4x/8x 1.5 & .8V motherboards. You're probably better off asking around to see if s...

The video playback quality of a 7600 is going to be pretty bad, about 77 out of 130 points using HQV. 8600s aren't much better, they got about 88 points across the board. ATIs HD 2600 and lower cards, on the other hand, all scored above a hundred, with the 2600 getting 128 points out of 130, and the...

It's not uncommon. I even have a sample card direct from the manufacturer that buzzes. I'd say that's a valid reason to RMA. Also, don't let it taint one particular manufacturer over another for you; all 8800s are re-badged Foxconn and MSI boards, IIRC. That's one of the reasons why I like the HD 29...

ATI uses far to much power for there cards meaning noisy systems The HD 2000-series up to the 2600s uses less power, compared to their NVIDIA equivalents. The 2900 XT still idles a little lower than an 8800GTS 640, and mostly has two plugs for extreme overclocking, although it loads a little higher...
