One more P180

Hi, A month ago I visiting the biggest finnish computer retailer with a friend and happened to stop by their "returned items corner". Basicly they have items with shipping damage, other minor bumps or that have been returned by customers within the 14 day return period. I noticed they had a P180 for...

Jazz, I also expected to S12II to be next generation PSUs, maybe something based on the S12-Energy+. However, I didn't change my order and received three units of S12II 380W. The 380W does not have the plastic as far as I can tell. However the fan in the Seasonics really isn't that great, a good exa...

Hi jalridge,

yep, it definately vibrates more than other cases I've played with. For the first time I had to use suspension for a hard drive. I've always managed with sorbothane, even with an identical Seagate in a Sonata.

After checking the pics in this review I'm a bit unsure... I ordered three S12II's from Germany, but I'm considering about swapping my order to the old model :? http://www.techaddicts.net/reviews/s12ii500/s12ii500.html The PCB layout seems to match the Antec Earthwatts... I don't get it. Why the hel...

yes, you can probably use a flat screwdriver to pop of the plastic 2-pin socket so that the pins would remain intact. I decided to replace the entire connector because I had proper 3-pin male connectors lying around. (And I wouldn't use a Noctua in PSU, especially in a bit crowded PSU like the one a...

Hi, I recently sent an email to the SPCR user frankgehry, where I stated "If I'd pick now, I wouldn't take the NSK6500". I've been playing with a P180 (building a system for my brother) and a Solo + P150 (used by a friend) in the past few weeks, and I have to say they all seem better than the NSK650...

Moro,

yes it fits, check the Main Rig in my signature. It clears the caps near the socket by a few mm.

Now can you answer if the Ninja fits the plain M2N? :D

BR,
Aleksi

EDIT: Yep, the Ninja did fit the M2N, however capacitors near the socket may touch the heatpipe.

Ninja compatibility with Asus M2N?

Hi guys, searching SPCR I found a bunch of people using Asus M2N- E with the new version of the Scythe Ninja, but does anyone have the plain Asus M2N and uses Ninja? http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=340&l4=0&model=1340&modelmenu=1 http://www.asus.com/999/images/products/1340/1340_l.j...

Did some tinkering; It's really easy to pick out any odd noises when the case sits 20cm from your head. Also realised that my HDD wasn't properly decoupled with sorbothane and produced a very faint hum. So that's going to be settled with some suspension. My brother has the same damn HDD mounted on s...

Hi Amjed and thanks for the nice comment! :) The air conditioning in my building has been on overdrive for a few days. I had too much time on my hands at work earlier this week and found some thin aluminium... so I whipped out the tinsnips and re-did the PSU "duct" from aluminium and also an exhaust muffler. So the PSU duct with some U-rubber to protect the wiring. http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/6605/p1020405sma...

Dan / Frank, The last "normal" production runs of the FBK were in 1991 and 1993, the 40mm FBK was however made still in 2006 because it is a high pressure fan in U spec. Even that was replaced with 1608KL due to better performance and about three times longer life. It is possible that there have bee...

Hi, I had three private messages (USA, Sweden and Finland) asking about the U-rubber, so thought I'd post the info here. Hi and thank you for the nice comment :) About the Seagate... the vibration is OK. It was clearly audible when I tried the silicone grommets that came with the case, but sorbothane has worked very well. If you can suspend the drive then that should be OK too. The drive is quiet when idleing. However...

Hi Amjed, first off, thanks for the nice comment :) well Nici pretty much said what I had in mind. The front 92mm fans are very nice. The 92L1A has zero chipset noise and it's very smooth. A friend came over with an AC power consumption meter...

- 65W AC power from the wall at idle
- 115W AC power from the wall at full load (both cores 100% with Prime95, GFX card stress tested with RHTDRIBL, HDD doing a virus scan)

That is not much.

out of curiosity: the 650W version of the Trio reviewed by a finnish website had a plastic sheet covering half of the PSU fan. Did your 650W sample have this (see the link below for picture)?

Hi Cloneman, Yes, the fan is controlled by the PSU's own fan controller. And yes normally you use a duct to provide cool air to the PSU and to prevent the PSU fan from ramping under load. But, in this case the PSU keeps the fan voltage below or at 5V even without the duct even at full load, which gi...
