Thanks for posting this. I am looking to get a passively cooled 2600XT as well and have been trying to figure out the probability of my getting lucky with a MSI passive (some have said that they didn't have to dent the case and still had it fit) or waiting to actually find a Sapphire for sale somewh...

I find that the soft mounts in the P182 to be very effective. I dunno about the Raptor though and whether a 5.25" enclosure would be better.

I haven't been very impressed with any of the reviews of 5.25" enclosures and hear that suspension is more effective.

Re: New System Advice

Q1: I read that the duo cores are better for gaming but I would still prefer to go quad. Either will game well enough. The only thing that is holding me back is not know for sure whether I would be buying a newer processor with G0 stepping. Is there any way of knowing for sure before I buy? I bough...

1. I use the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme with a Scythe S-FLEX E fan. 2. Like you, I just have the rear exhaust enabled and the top exhaust open with no fan. I'm thinking of blocking it off with acoustic material. 3. Maybe you could vent using a slot exhaust cooler? I have a Rosewill one but it's ...

I have close to the same setup, but made the following slightly different choices: 1. Gigabyte GA-P35C-SD3R - cheaper and no CPU backplate to interfere with mounting options, also will take DDR3 when this becomes my "backup" mobo a couple of years down the road 2. Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme - go...

I've been thinking about this for a while - about an hour or so (sad, eh?)... Focusing on your CPU temps: Old case: 5-6C better P180 with side off: 2C better It seems to me that unless your old case had some miracle airflow going on, the fact that it had better temps than the P180 with the side pane...

I had the 900 for a while. I love my new P182. A lot has been said about the P182, but the reasons that drove me to it from the 900 are: 1. Soft mounts in the HDD bays. 2. Much better cable management 3. included acoustic treatment of panels 4. slightly better isolation from interior noise - easier ...

I think a lot depends on the airflow in your case. On the advice of Pierce from this thread , I tried running my Mini Ninja passive in my Antec NSK2400 case. It works great! I think the airflow design of the case works well with the Mini Ninja. I have both side exhaust fans running and they're 20mm ...

I have my drives in the bottom compartment on my p182se. My reasoning is: 1. The HDD's are going to dump their heat somewhere in the case. I'd rather have it be the PSU chamber rather than the GPU/CPU chamber. 2. After reading the Google article on HDD failure rates, I care much less about HDD cooli...

If you don't need the extra power provided by the HX-620W, you could go with the model that's one step down, the HX-520W. Silent, modular cables, stable rated power, good warranty.

I went with the slot exhaust fan idea - picked one where the intake matched up with the exhaust slots of my 8800GTS so I could mount it on the immediately adjacent slot.

I couldn't find one that was quiet enough so I attached it to my fan controller.
