I'm curious, why did you stop using it as your main drive?

...I will say this: there's no question the 14 dB SilenX sample I have is by far the quietest fanned PSU I have ever heard -- by no small margin. Even at full power output, it is amazingly quiet. At idle, you have to get within 6" to hear it... My experience too, exactly. The SilenX 400W 14dbA is t...

Yes they do. Also very effective is the version that Directron.com sells for the power supply, here: http://www.directron.com/tnsypw.html

I agree. Just unplug the fan.

I also recommend that you consider waiting instead for the SilenX 400W 14dbA supply, which should become available again soon.

Hi everyone, I have some unfortunate news but ExoticPC was ordered shut down by Ahanix Corporation due to their acquisition of ColorCase. All SilenX products will no longer be carried by ExoticPC. Currently, the personnel who have been asked to leave will set up a new company to carry on the SilenX...

Why not just drop in a Panaflo at 5V?

What do y'all think of just replacing the fan in that Antec 300W supply with a drop-in Panaflo FBA08A12L, tail running outside the PSU to an internal 4-pin molex connector, and operating at 5V? In Mike's article "Run a Power Supply Without a Fan?" he says: "A Panaflo FBA08A12L 80mm fan at 5V probabl...

Please help me avoid getting shocked to death!

I have extra power supplies now, after replacing them with quiet ones. :) Most of these extras are 300W Antecs. After reading articles and the forum here, I think I'd like to try modifying these extra supplies with 5V Panaflo or Pabst fans. The after-mod supplies would make nice gifts to friends! Bu...

Hi Al, As far as that question is concerned, it's a matter of how much load you put on the power supply. If you were putting 300w load on the SilenX 300w version, you would be getting around 14 dBA at 1m. If you were putting that same load on the 400w SilenX, you would be getting something around 1...

Hi Al, We have conducted shock tests on the power supply and to this day, we haven't had any issues with parts getting loose. As far as coil whine problems are concerned, the 400w version utilizes active PFC, basically there isn't any coil noise to begin with. Noise level hasn't changed from all th...

Hi Al, Out of the 1200 SilenX PSUs we've shipped out by UPS Ground, we haven't had a single return due to shipping damage (or any other reason for that matter). I think I can say with confidence that UPS Ground will not destroy the power supply before it gets to you! Thank you for the very fast rep...

[Hey, my first post here! Hi everyone :D ] To ExoticPC, I am about to order one of your 14dbA 400W power supplies. Do you recommend that the user choose the more expensive air delivery method, instead of the (less expensive) standard UPS railroad/truck delivery method, for this power supply? My conc...
