Wow! Looks nice. Glad to see that someone has been doin' their homework. :D Not 100% sure the 380 W power supply will be enough when overclocked. It should be enough. When I say "should" I don't mean "marginally", but rather "I think so". I seriously doubt that system (even OC'ed) would draw that mu...

Maybe it is possible, but the GUI and the CLI together. Ok, I tried this and I think that it works. I have a F@H entry that is "started" in my services window. (services.msc) I also have a F@H tray icon where the GUI client is running. I have yet to see any progress though. :? I stopped folding on ...

I have installed the console version to two different directories. For some reason either console will not work (one or two instances). If it makes a difference, in the shortcut to the .exe file reads: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@Home Console 1\FAH504-Console.exe" -local -advmethods -verbosity 9...

Something like "Hey, I have this problem [bla bla]. I found this other thread (link to it), but it doesn't help. Any ideas?" Sounds nice. I probably should have used this. Really good advice. As you have got our attention you might as well tell us your problem Nobody had answered the guy's question...

Dual Core and Points Problem

Ok, first lemme say that I have read the other recent posts here regarding my issues. I also have searched the internet, and tried many solutions but none seem to work. My first problem involves folding with my CPU. I have a Pentium D 945 (3.4 GHz) and I want to fold with two instances while I'm at ...

Start new thread or post in existing?

Ok, I'm am a pretty new poster here. I've been reading for close to a year and decided to join. I'm also pretty sure the "Off Topic" is the wrong place for this thread. Sorry!! Anyways, Let's say I have a problem, and I found a thread about someone else with a similar or same problem (and non...

Are there any decent micro C2D mobos on the market that will allow for moderate OCing? None that I know of come to mind. This might fit your needs. Some of the reviews claimed slight overclocks. (One guy got 33MHz FSB increase.) I don't know if that is enough for your needs. How permanent is the 33...

I think your decision depends on the use of the C2D system. The NSK3300 (and NSK3400) is/are micro-ATX cases. The NSK4400 is regular ATX. If this system is a low to midrange system, I would stick with the NSK3300 or 3400. If this system is to house some sort of gaming system, a high end config, or o...

I completely agree with stromgald about the noise problems, let me add my opinion about performance: First off, how much/serious do you plan on gaming? You currently have alot of your budget in a high-end motherboard. From your selection of a 7600GT, I will assume that gaming is not the largest prio...

Yes, 430 Watts would be enough. I apologize, I was covering the possibility of you upgrading to SLI. But with just for a single 8800GTX, I think you will be OK.

First let me say that I have NOT used that card. Now, Personally, I am opposed to passive mid-high ranged cards. They are nowhere close to being cost effective. You pay a huge premium for the silence. A more powerful card with quiet cooling is much more economical. That X1650PRO retails for ~$210. F...

Thank you both pyogenes and DrJ for answering my question.... But would 4 gigs of RAM really be useful for FullQuiver?

I raised a concern because I got the impression that he wanted a modest dual core system, and that much ram doesn't seem to go well with what he wanted.

4 Gigs of RAM?? Is that really necessary?? Personally, I would reccomend only one, two for a high end system, but four? Thats crazy expensive too! Would any application (excluding server related) ever use 4 Gigs?

Any cheap socket 754 motherboard w/ onboard GFX will do. Why would you use a socket 754 mobo? Socket 754 is dead. I understand cost is very important, but this is for a business . I dont think that investing in obsolete technology is a very good plan. He should get a 939 socket is cost is really im...

If you have found the two cards at the same price, than I would get the 1900xt. And of co

I have little knowledge of memory that overclocks well, but I would look for something by Corsair or OCZ.

I agree that the NSK3300 would be your best bet. (I have one) It is surprisingly small, very quiet out of the box, and looks great. It is the perfect for any compact low-power system.

If you want to upgrade to dx10 than I would get the x1950pro. Both cards are excellent value for the money, and the x1900xt would give you better preformance now , but the x1950pro will get you by until you upgrade. I see no point in spending the extra money now. If you do get a dx10 card I would de...
