I'm going to take this opportunity to say that I love these forums, the only place left on the internet where newbies get a welcome on their first post instead of being flamed to death.
.... even though I didn't get a welcome when I first posted.
EDIT: I would also like to point out the lack of:
-trolling
-fanboys
-worthless idiots
-elitism
-flaming
-spam
Everyone is just here to discuss quiet computing without any personal biases or bad attitude whatsoever. These forums are truly amazing. Mike, how do you do it?

No, I admit I don't read the off-topic forum. I come here for silence, if I wanted to talk about other stuff I would go to another forum that is geared towards that topic. Is it really that bad over there?
EDIT: No it is not. You should see some other forums.
EDIT2: Any forum where newbies are greeted with a big blue "Welcome to SPCR!!!" is a forum where everyone's opinion is respected. Add to that the fact that none of you seem to have any irrational brand loyalty and we have ourselves probably the best forums for hardware advice ever.

The reviews are some of the best and the forums are well regulated. The other day I posted a review of a Hauppage TV recording card in the general discussion section and about 20min. later received a PM from an active member reminding me that it had absolutely nothing to do with silent computing. I agreed and promptly moved the thread to OT.\
To my defense, the thing was fanless and would work great in an HTPC (which needs to be quiet) but no quieter than any other similar card. So I moved it to OT with the sound card discussions and other quiet but not necessarily quieter discussions.
What's trolling? writing long OT posts?

I've been surfing here for the past few weeks and i've learned alot
this is my first post, and i wonder if the lack of spam/flame/tease/spam is related to quiet computing. As we all know, quiet computing releaves stress. Maybe it's quiet computing controlling the attitudes of the members in these forums

You mean to say, that if I had waited for a little bit, I'd have been the 4000th myself?
Noooooo.... woe is unto me
Welcome.
And let me (as a recent member myself) also acknowledge the "nice"-ness of SPCR. It's all really mostly topical and ... polite here.
[Trolling]:
Trolling is - as has been explained to me at Anandtech at the time (correct or no) the folliowing:
To intentionally write an inflamatory post, to start a sluging match.
I.e.: something in the likes of:
"Intel sucks"
"AMD sucks"
or any of the other variant of "XYZ sucks" being generally rude about it, and all that. All with the intent of starting a flame-war.
So - all the better that it is not present here (as best I've seen) .
- Shathal.
