I thought panaflo L1A is the quitest but the directron article suggests the quietest is enermax UC-001B-TC - Has anybody in this forums used this fan and how does it compare with panaflo L1A?

The problem is that he measured the fans @ 1 inch instead of 1 meter. His SLM was only sensitive to 35db so i he had to move much closer to get a reading.

That poses many problems.
First @1in the slm was creating air turbulence, so it doesnt surprise me that the panaflo which creates a long narrow vortex of air did so bad.

Secondly, 1in is too close for accurate measurements. Theres a 3db difference between 1/2in and 1in. Theres not much of a difference Between 1 meter and 1.0254 meters.

Thirdly, Nobody sits 1in away from their computer, 1 meter is much more common and would alow easy compariosns with your ambient noise.

Last, the directron.com model did well, hmmm

That article is BS. I only posted the link as a joke.

Directron has good prices and a good selection on quiet components. Its so unfortunate that thier atricles are so bad, really confuses the newbies.

Well, the newest of those articles is 6-13-02.

Also, the above mentioned measurement statements would also make a difference.

I must agree though, Dr. Michael does not really seem to know what he's talking about, especially propagating the Aluminum Cases are cooler myth. =)
