I really like Zalman's continued and steadfast tinkering with silent products.
More choice, more options.
We'll see how the reviews go, maybe they'll surprise us:
1. the 120 mm fan on the Zalman 7700: Maybe it's an amazingly quiet 120mm fan and the whole issue with the 'dead air' zone is resolved in some manner with their design. I would anticipate it to cool better, I don't think the Zalman engineers are just making changes for no reason.
2. 400watt Fanless External PSU sounds great, looks ugly but if you can stick that thing behind your desk no one would see it
3. Double heat pipe Video Card: I wonder how much better that is as opposed to their current release. I was just tinkering with my Zalman 80A today and noted how hot it was. Granted, it's been working fine for 2 years now but I don't think the problem is transferring heat via the pipe, but rather running out of real estate to dump the heat to. I would have thought their next refresh would've put some fan on or extended the heatpipe to go outside the case <-- hmm.
So with these choices you also have the new:
a. The Zalman reserator for a fanless cpu (but one pump)
b. or just chuck all those solutions and blow a thousand on their fanless case
Got to hand it to Zalman, they aren't afraid to trot out an expensive "No Noise all-in-one solution" and then proceed to introduce individual silent component solutions that undercut the need for anyone to BUY their expensive all-in-one solution. To me that says: "Our company is about providing silent solutions first, and then making money"

It took me a while to get a reference point but that black rectangle off to the right and down is probably the replacement backplate for the standard PSU-mount.Wow that PSU looks interesting. I wonder what the dimensions are.
Now using that as a reference, I *think* we're in the ballpark of:
12-16" (30-40cm) tall [including circular stand]
and
6-8" (15-20cm) wide

I have not seen any photos jet, but I'm guessing that it will be something similar to the one on Gainward’s SilentFX?

Wow, nifty find!! looks like they are eerily similar in design, except's Zalman's has the option to mount a top fan, carrying on with their ZM80C deisgn.I have not seen any photos jet, but I'm guessing that it will be something similar to the one on Gainward’s SilentFX?
As a happy Zalman 80A owner, I'm nonetheless probably going to switch to a VGA Silencer-type solution next go around.
Other than that, I'm thinking about how to use Zalman's products in my next computer rebuild. So many possibilities to think about now...
