Firefox 1.0.2 released

Post by JimK » Mon Mar 28, 2005 1:45 pm

Well, I put a note down in the Not Silent section but that does not make the list on the homepage. Knowing how many Firefox fans there are here I decided to repost here. Sorry if it offends anyone.

Going to install this soon.

Back up well. This particular update seems to have caused more than the normal amount of browser crashes compared to earlier Firefox updates/upgrades. I think you'd be well advised to closely follow the upgrade install directions for this one. Me, I'm going to wait a while and live with 1.01 for now.

Just installed mine over 1.01 and all was well. I have never had a problem updating FF.

I've only ever had one browser crash with Firefox (I had a few with Firebird, but that doesn't count). If I start to get one a week I'll know there's something wrong, but it's still a lot better than IE's track record on my PC!

I always uninstall the current version before installing the new. All my bookmarks / extensions / etc. are retained. (Unless an extension does not work for a new version, then it says so in the Extension window.)

I do get crashes in Firefox occasionally (not really any more / less after the update). Most of the time it's due to some horrible Java applet.

OK, I may just delay for a while and see if there is a 1.0.2.1 down the road.

Thanks.
