ECS 755-A2 reboots

Post by gautja » Mon Jul 18, 2005 7:41 am

I recently bought an ECS 755-A2 motherboard with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor from Fry's. I have a 512 MB stick of DDR 3200 Corsair memory in it. The motherboard constantly reboots! :x Just before it reboots, I hear a grinding sound that I think is coming from either the Hard-drive or the Floppy drive. Could it be the power supply? If not, what else could it be? Please help me.

I guess it could be the power supply, if the +12V rail is not stable and the sound you hear is the hard drive motor losing power. Is there any way you can monitor the +12V rail using software, looking in the BIOS, etc?

I suppose it could also be the hard drive itself, but if it was working fine before, it would be a coincidence that it would start failing now.

Sounds like your HDD. Are you reusing your HDD with the new mobo/cpu combo?

Format and see what happens.

I am reusing it. I will try that after i check my power supply. I would rather not have to reformat my HDD. Thank you. I'll post the outcome soon.
