Other methods of "Silencing"

Post by gregzeng » Tue Dec 03, 2002 8:12 pm

I'm new to this site. So excuse me if I'm repeating ideas already mentioned. But in the "List of Contents" or Index to this site, I see no mention of my suggestions below.

1) Networking (wired or wireless) away from the noisy units (not just putting the case in a desk or cabinet).

2) Air-In & Air-Out to the noisy units being piped in/ out via ducts

3) Putting the noisy unit "out-of-the-way". This could be under the desk/ bed, in a wardrobe/ cabinet/ cupboard.

4) Using a noise-canceling audio-generator - an amplified version of the electronic noise-canceling headphone units.

5) Play music, television; being near crowds/ traffic, kitchens.

6) Use earplugs/ noise-lockout headphones

7) Become emotional involved ... brainwash yourself into urgency (time, deadlines, etc) or extreme emotion (anger, obsession, ...).

8) .... any more ... ?

- Buy a new computer
- Buy a laptop (most of them I've seen are quiet)

My recently purchased notebook computer (CD-DVD-RW, USB, Firewire, etc) is noisy ... because it uses a Desktop INTEL CPU, since the high-powered mobile CPU's did not exist when it was purchased.
