I can hear my monitor buzzing !
For all these years I never noticed my monitor was noisy ! Now I can hear it ! I'm the happiest modder in the world, thanks to silentpcreview.com
The noisy monitor is my secondary monitor, the one I use to run monitoring tools and give my girlfriend a good reason to tell me I'm a geek. My main monitor is a Viewsonic G90f, and it's perfectly silent, so I don't think I'll change it right now.
Maybe when my setup becomes more quiet and I can notice the Viewsonic buzzing

I had a couple of buzzing tube-type monitors in the past.. My first foray into LCD was a LCD1830 by NEC.... After about 4 months that thing had a buzz in the back of it to beat any previous monitor I had ever had. Just a steady "biizzzzzzz"... Was told by several NEC techs that it was sort of normal for that model... BAH.
Got a 19" Sceptre Naga XS9, perfect

I do a bit of image editing and web design so I bought the excellent Mitsubishi Diamon Pro 750SB 17". The best quality 17" screen I have ever seen but the buzz off it is pretty bad
"Don't assume that your monitor will always buzz. Try different resolutions and different refresh rates within each resolution. Every different setting will produce a different buzzing sound and there should be several that don't buzz at all."
You're completely right! Luckily what I usually run it on (1152x864 @ 100Hz) is about the least irritating of all the settings after I tried most out.

It really does depend on the monitor, and the chosen resolution and refresh rate. If you run a really good monitor at it's main design res and refresh, then the sound can be very low. I've just bought a new Hansol 730ED (17" CRT) which I'm running at 1024*768 85Hz, and it's so quiet that even with the PC off, you have to have put your ear an inch away from the screen to hear anything at all . The change from my old Compaq V70 is incredible.
Power is important as well. Bad power can make anything buzz.

I use a couple old Apple 14" monitors as televisions and they often make an incredibly loud extremely high pitched squeal. In fact, the frequency is so high that only some people can even hear the sound (I unfortunately am one of them).
Fortunately, the sound goes away after the monitor has been on for about half an hour.
