Always get a good laugh

Post by Elijah86 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 10:13 am

I always get a good laugh when I'm browsing around in other forums and see a post thread that starts like this "Project:Uber Silent pc 56k* warning" and the first piece of hardware they throw in it is a thermaltake 1200w jet engine.

Heres the link.

Well, it's on the SPCR recommended list, so it can't be too bad.

Stock CPU cooling as well from what i can see.

You could make it quiet, but not silent, let alone uber silent :P

"Zalman 9700 is quiet even at full speed"

That's just painful to read.

I wouldn't stick a Thermaltake rubberband in my computer, much less a PSU and vid card cooler.

i love how he says his stock vga cooler is only 16dba. Another fool that listens to manufacture listed sound pressure spec's.

That system probably only pulls around 200w under load. He's got over 1kw of headroom.

Put a Corsair VX450 in there, replace the HD with a 2.5" enclosed in a quietdrive and then suspended, put an HR-03 heatsink on the VGA card, a ninja on the CPU, and then some 1200rpm Scythe S-Flex's on the CPU and Exhaust with a fan controller, and then MAYBE it will be sort of quiet.

hah, and that "pbmaster's" 9500 is quiet at full, yeah right! i'm listening to my 9500 right now

(actually i've fine tuned it using the fan mate to my perception of silent, and idles around 39 with an antec tricool on low as a rear exhaust)

Offtopic=
i cant wait to replace these antec's for better fans...i've been crunching numbers on noctua's and scythe's for the past two days and must've drawn a dozen revisions of the same diagram for which will go where and at what RPM.

Maybe it`s just that those people do sleep at night :P
In the morning a zalman cooler at full blast could be inaudible, depending on where you live or work.

With sufficiently damaged hearing, I can see this machine being pretty quiet. Well, at least picked a good case.
