My computer is very quiet. It's got all the quiet components. I can hardly hear it.
But there's a strange noise, and I don't know where it's coming from.
The noise is a hum or vibration kinda noise and its periodic. It happens every 1 or 2 seconds. It is constant and the volume gradually raises and fades, as if u were to turn a volume knob very slowly up and down.
I noticed this on other computers too. On some it happens every 10 seconds. The whole case just starts vibrating for a few seconds, then it goes away.
I tried puting the case on top of soft material so the floor doesn't absorbe the vibration. But I can still hear it.
Is this coming from the power supply? It cannot be the hard drives, because I have 5 and they are all very quiet.
Any tips?
Thanks
what is that vibration hum noise?

Congratulations, you've got beats ... or multiple hard drives whose rotation speeds are moving in and out of phase with each other. The solution is to soft-mount the drives so that the vibrations are no longer transmitted to the structure of the case, and therefore no longer resonate. There are plenty of examples of drive soft-mounting in these forums ... just do a search.
