26dB at best? Isn't it loud?

It's not that quiet... but its functionality is so good & surely, SPCR fans are always up for a bit of fan modding challenge, aren't they?

Even if SPCR gave us about no insight on that? Maybe...

Luca,

We just opened it up to take another close look. The main 92mm fan is a 4-pin PWM, no problem to replace if you wanted to, but there's no need. It is very quiet in normal use. The main source of noise is the tiny cooling fan in the FSP PSU. This is more of a challenge to silence.

It's a 40mm fan. We did not open it to find out which model it is, but I assume it's probably running at 1500+ rpm; it would not do any good running slower. Becuase it appears to have two 20-pin (or 24-pin) output connectors, there's no easy swap for the PSU; you'd have to mod or swap the fan.

All this is somewhat moot, because 4 quiet drives will bring the overall SPL up to beyond the little PSU fan -- and smooth it out by changing the overall tonal balance to a lower frequency.

If you really must have the unit close to you and want it to be quieter, the only option is to break into the PSU and add resistance to slow the fan, or repalce it with a slower/quieter one -- perhaps from Scythe's extensive array.

Just a short remark that the TS-x69L series indeed feature an old atom chip, just check when it was brought to market!
This series is being replaced by newer ones very soon, with faster processors and way more silent.

So a tip is NOT to buy this model, but get the newer ones :)

^Not "very soon", it's been replaced by a whole range of much better devices for at least 5mth now.
