Breadbox - NSK3480 and P5E-VM HDMI

Post by oncoming » Sun Feb 17, 2008 7:07 pm

Wanted to make a quieter (not silent) computer. Replaced 5 year old junker Shuttle AGP.

UPDATE
Sidewinder Computing's free replacement screws came and I have new temps but the CPU didn't go down by much. I'm still researching what the average internet temps are for comparison.

Happy so far with the result. Coming from hemorrhaging at 5-15fps to 60fps without trying in Quake Wars is a welcome change. It's not silent, I can hear the harddrive clearly during seeks (looking at AAM) and the back fan is somewhat noticeable. But the overall noise to me is just so low; I can just barely notice it when I'm listening to music.

Maybe I should have asked when considering pieces.:(
Does anyone with the same motherboard & case and a Thermalright U120 or U120e [with a 120mm fan on the front by the ram] have any blocked ram slots? I might still consider changing my main heatsink in case I need to goto 8GB of ram one day.

bah, temperature madness :P

hope you are useing 64bitt OS, or you will hit that nasty 3.3-3.5GB ram limit (wich is limitation in 32bitt arcitecture).

I'd like to build this exact same model (with different HD and optical drive) and am planning its feasibility.

Is it me, or does that look like more than enough TIM?
