What is the purpose fo the removable FDD cage in the BQE?

I just got the BQE and the FDD cage seems to be the only removable part of my case. I was wondering what is the significance of this.

At a guess the idea is that you can swap floppy drives outside the case where you have more room and then slot the cage itself back into its holder. *shrug* I removed mine permanently with the help of a 12V cordless.
