Slk3700 or "SX10x0" type, Scsi H.D + IDe H.D

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Slk3700 or "SX10x0" type, Scsi H.D + IDe H.D

I'm considering one of the above cases for a very quiet pc (as quiet as I can).
I have a very loaded system:
P4 2Ghz with Zalman 7000.
Radeon 9200 Vivo card.
Terratec DMX 6 fire.
Seagate 18GB 15K rpm scsi H.D.
Maxtor 80Gb 7200rpm H.D
1 DVD burner.
1 CD burner.
1 DVD
"full line" of PCI cards (Asus motherboard p4t).
Maybe another H.D in the near future.

I read the reviews and some topics on the forums.
The pc "must be" as silent as I can get but to keep the heat from failing my H.D's (which I don't want to loose their data, and it's most important).
What kind of case would you recommend?
What kind of PSU would you recommend (that will no be burned or have to be replaced in the following years)?

I'm tending towards the SLK3700BQE but there is the H.D cooling (temp) issue...

Thanks,
Boaz

update

An update. I bought the SLK3700BQE.
I use no front fan, only the original fan on the back.
The H.D temps are o.k. and it's quiet but can be much quieter with papst 120mm fans on low voltage (one front and one back).

I tried to find the papst 4412 f2/gl online with international shipment, no luck.
I can get the papst 4412FM. Does anyone know whether it will be much more noisier than the f2/GL on low voltage?

Have you tried lowering the fan speed to 5V? it's not that bad a fan at that speed. Plus, with a 15K rpm drive and a Maxtor, I don't think that fan noise is too huge a concern.

You might also want to consider a fan to cool the HDs. I don't think you will be able to hear a quiet fan over the drivers themselves.

Consider futher, taping up any un-used 5-1/4" drive slots and any other holes in the case to direct airflow over the HDD's...

I have a single Barracuva IV running @ 31deg cel, Case is @ 25deg cel.

I also taped up the bottom of the front bezel to stop airflow that doesn't pass through the filters.

Boaz, are you from Israel? Both HEC 6A19 and 6A21 are available over here (Five Exits import them), and their primary air intake is through the drive cage. Similar to 3700BQE, but with better airflow, and costs only half as much. 6919 and 6920 are similar, but more expensive and bigger. You can suspend your two drives in the drive cage to dampen the seek noise. The Globe 120mm fans that Five Exits bundle with these cases are fairly quiet even at full voltage.

Edit: Oops, didn't notice you already bought the BQE. Oh well. You can try decreasing the speed of the rear fan with SpeedFan; if it doesn't work, hook it up to 7V or 5V instead of 12V. You can also buy a Fan Mate for just 19NIS fron Panda. That 15K RPM drive is likely your noisiest component though, followed by PSU, and there is little that can be done about those :(

You can try some of the drive noise dampening techniques used here (elastic suspension, sorbothane, etc).

Try searching the articles and forum.
