I wouldn't judge the prices just yet. Once they enter the channel, the prices can be cheaper than the MSRP that Antec charges on it's website.Blappo wrote:I could buy a BQE locally for a few bucks less (after tax vs order from Antec with the US-Cnd $ conversion). I too have a question for AntecRep.
I know the grills of the SLK3000B are like the grills on the SLK3700-BQE, but how is the rear fan of the SLK3000B mounted? In other words, does it use the SLK3700-BQE rear-fan mounting or the SLK3700AMB rear-fan mounting (that requires some modification for better noise/vibration reduction)?
Hopefully I'm not being too confusing, but if I am, I believe the rear-fan mounting differences between the AMB and BQE are covered in Ralf Hutter's reviews of these two cases.
Thanks.

Well I would prefer black and a case without a PSU (I know I could sell the PSU on eBay). I am waiting for 939 MB with PCI-Express before building a PC so I can wait on the case. A local shop just dropped their price on the 3700AMB to $79 Cnd so I still might get one.mathias wrote:What's stopping you from getting a 3700AMB then?
Drive rails will be like the 3700's.
I'm pretty sure the 3000B rear fan is mounted like the BQE.
Also in case you missed a minor change we've made on the product page. The included fan is one of our new TriCool fans, so you can manually select the speed the fan will run at (Low, Medium, or High).

Good price. I think the 3700AMB is a much better case than the BQE because the hard drive cage is removable, so you can put a drive on foam at the front of the case with some kind of platform, or suspend the drive(s) in that area.Blappo wrote:Well I would prefer black and a case without a PSU (I know I could sell the PSU on eBay). $65.95 shipped from ZipZoomFly.com I just bought oneNeilBlanchard wrote:Hello:

Is that a duct for the CPU exhaust on the side there? I wonder how well it will work.
Right now I have an Antec SX1030b with 2 - 80mm panaflo L1A's (one exhaust and one on a zalman bracket to cool my video card) and a 92mm panaflo M1A CPU fan. All with fanmates directly attached to the fans all tidy like.
I am moving to two 120mm Nexus fans in this new box and will probably use one of the 80mm panaflo fans for my CPU. The 92mm M1A makes a fair amount of noise even with a fanmate.
Also just picked up a Super Silencer 400 at Microcenter a week or two ago for $80 plus a $20 mail in rebate! That was cheaper than even buying online.
Put the hard drive in a SmartDrive 2002 copper as well. The system is so quiet now I am probably crazy for springing for another case but now I can just use this case for another system

Yes, it's a CPU cooling duct. It's a Intel "requirement" that they have been pushing since the P4 3.06 was released. They feel a need for a source of cool air for their warmer-running 3+ GHz P4 processors so have instituted this duct as part of what they call a "Thermally Advantaged Chassis".Slipstream wrote: Is that a duct for the CPU exhaust on the side there? The duct should work very well if it is positioned over the CPU. The custom duct I made for my Coolermaster Wave Master allows me to run my 3.0C with a fanless Zalman 7000Cu.Slipstream wrote:Is that a duct for the CPU exhaust on the side there? I wonder how well it will work.
But a side duct requires the rest of your components to be very quiet. Hard drive noise can easily spill through this duct. I highly recommend suspension and a good (noise-wise) hard drive.
Also, the CPU fan should be running very slowly. The duct will make a loud CPU fan really loud.
Finally, the best position for a left-side-ducted computer is on your left side. Any noise leakage will be facing away from you, like rear exhaust.
Don't get me wrong - the side duct is the best thing I've done to my computer and has allowed me to make it VERY quiet - I love it! But in the wrong hands, a side-duct can be a terrible thing and better off blocked.
I've gone back and reread the AMB & BQE reviews and the threads about them but I wonder how the noise level of the HDDs compares. I know for the ultimate answer of suspending drives the AMB/3000-B are much easier to work with than the BQE.
But how does the stock AMB/3000-B system compare to Ralf's "Sorbothane on the sled" method? I'm going to stick a Raptor in there along with another large drive.

Mine came Friday. I like the case, not as fancy as my Lian Li, but more practicle I think.
I bought a Acoustipack BQE precut kit for it. I am still mulling over the using the cpu air duct. Right now I just took of the duct and put the acoustpack over it. I was thinking about cutting out the space for it and putting the duct back on. Maybe I will wait and see what my temps are before I do this.

I'd be keen to hear how that works out. I'm ordering one of these cases as well, probably with the BQE precut pack.Sizzle wrote:I bought a Acoustipack BQE precut kit for it. CPU duct
Hi, am planning on getting a nforce4 mobo, A64 3000+ and Thermalright XP-90 with Vantec Stealth 92mm fan - will the XP-90+ fan fit under the CPU duct? it looks pretty long to me on that photo......
anyway good to know it's removable if you don't want it / it doesn't fit
Also, where can i buy the 3000B in the UK, and when? Antecrep?

Re: CPU duct
I just heard from kustompcs.co.uk that they will have the 3000B in stock at the beginning of January for £39 incl. VAT.as530 wrote:Also, where can i buy the 3000B in the UK, and when? Antecrep?
I've got one reserved!

It is removable. It is two pieces one that is attatched to the case and one adjustable piece. So I don't think there will be fit problems.anyway good to know it's removable if you don't want it / it doesn't fit
Fit in well. I trimmed a little off the top of the piece that goes on the back wall of the case to accomodate the trim I have there (I cut out the fan grill). This stuff is heavy, after I get my PSU in there, it is going to weigh a ton.I'd be keen to hear how that works out. I'm ordering one of these cases as well, probably with the BQE precut pack.

Mine arrived last week and I have almost finished working on it.
I used the Acoustipack Deluxe kit and left holes for the CPU duct & lower side vent. On the floor I took out the lower drive cages and removed the rivets that hold the bottom attachment for the cage. I don't have any use for the cage there so it allowed for one sheet of acoustipack all the way across the bottom.
The Western Digital hard drive in a SmartDrive 2002c still made a bit of high pitched whine until I put the Acoustipack on the inside of the case door. Now it is inaudible.

No, it's a 3700xxx chassis. It has the fan grills of the BQE and the removable HDD cage of the AMB. The rest of the case is normal 3700xxx w/o a PSU.silverback wrote:Is this a modified 2650? a 2650 with a different drive cage and door rather?
or is there a difference in build quality from the 2650->3000

They're not the same; the 3000B has the same interior layout as Tsunami Dream and a different duct from SLK2650-BQE. Also, the 3000B has a stamped opening lower down on the side panel that isn't present on SLK2650-BQE. The 5.25" bay rail system is inferior to SLK2650-BQE's. SLK1650 is clearly inferior to any of the mentioned cases (SLK3700-BQE/-AMB, SLK2650-BQE, SLK3000B).

Congratulations! Which WD drive do you have? Did the drive temp go up much?Slipstream wrote:The Western Digital hard drive in a SmartDrive 2002c still made a bit of high pitched whine until I put the Acoustipack on the inside of the case door. Now it is inaudible.
I’m thinking of putting a Raptor in my SmartDrive. I’m concerned that the SmartDrive won’t be able to quiet it down enough. Or maybe the Raptor is too hot for the SmartDrive.
