Post by xxkrnxstylezxx » Tue Jan 18, 2005 3:20 pm

Hi, does anyone know how to get the floppy drive in the case?? I put it in, but the holes don't match up...

It's funny and awkward, but it should work. Slide the floppy drive into it, and one of the floppy drive holes on the drive cages should match with a screw hole in the middle of the floppy drive. It's not too secure I know, that's one of my gripes about the case, but it works (especially since it'll rest on the other 3.5" bay).

I didn't have much trouble with it, but my floppy does seem really noisy. I think its most likely the cheap drive I got. Just take out the cage and slide the drive in. The drive should stick out the front quite a bit, that way the front of the floppy is flush (or pretty close) with the front bezel.

If it's similar to the 3700BQE, the floppy cage is removable - if your heatsink makes removing it impossible, just sliding it back a couple of inches should reveal a couple of holes in the appropriate locations on the left hand side of the cage.

Or if you're like me and realize you never use the floppy drive any more, you can just skip installing it entirely--that's what my plan is when I finish my mods and put my computer together in its new case--no reason to bother putting it in if you don't use it.

Hm. it seems like the floppy would fit in the second (bottom) slot. But on the top one, there is nowhere to screw it in.

Is it possible to put a floppy in the 1st bay?

Sure it is.

All my SLK3x00 floppies are in the top bay. There's mounting tabs there, just like in the bottom slot. Either slot works perfect.

Perhaps I got again a case that has been manhandled when shipped to the vendor, but for me the 1st bay was no-go: the front bezel was too tight to be comfortably removed if a floppy was there. 2nd bay was much better.

Mine's an SLK3700BQE.

Cheers,

Jan

You're missing the detachable drive cage!

Here's what it looks like empty:

-and here's what it looks like with a drive in it:

If you didn't get the cage with your case, talk to your dealer or Antec.
