Looks good if you have a 5.25" drive bay. CompuUSA and Nexus sell a similar item that includes a heatsink and rubber isolation combination.

Can't tell much from the picture; it depends on the softness of the rubber. I can't say that rubber looks particularly soft, but then I can't see much of it.

The rubber isn't particularly soft but its not hard either. I've got it on my old machine with a Deathstar 75GXP. I also wrapped three sides with a 6-8mm acoustic barrier (foam+dense barrier). The difference was day and night. Seek noises went from annoying loud to muffled. Even idle noise was lowered.

The only problem I've got is a significant increase in temperature. It hovers around 45 degrees if I access the disk a lot but thats still within spec.

Basically give it a go. At A$10 (or US$7.50), its not a lot of money.

Sorry to dig up this old thread but, do you think these would be better than elastic suspension?

I've currently got my drives suspended with a fairly dodgy DIY job and was wondering if this might be a better option cooling and sound-wise.

(I'm currently cooling the drives with a 12cm fan at 5V mounted in front of them. Idle at 35C and 37C and load in the low 40s.)
