Given the exposed surface area of those huge fans, I wonder if one couldn't get a decently quiet convective solution started if you removed the fans and placed a dust filter (such as used for floor registers in home forced air heat) behind the fan grills? With that much intake area one could generate a rather substantial airflow, especially with some creative ducting.

While I realize tat top venting is thermally advantageous I'm not usually an enthusiast of top vent/blowholes due to increased dust when idle ... and the fact that books and papers often get stacked on the top of my system :)

Well then just buy the damn P180 and be done with it  If anyone wants it i can sell mine for cheap. I would rather have the 190, the 180 is too damn cramped inside. But i've had enough Antec cases already. That comment is hardly official anyway, i very much doubt they will discontinue the P180 so soon. Unless of course people are not buying it anymore.

I've just sent a PM to AntecRep asking what will happen to the P180.

As of right now there are no plans to discontinue P180/P180B even after P190 is shipping.

If P180 sales volumes fall then yes we'd dicontinue it.

Also expect changes to P190 compared to what's been seen/shown. I don't know of any changes right now, but it's still relatively early in P190's development so change is still very possible.

From what I can tell from the article (French is only my second language) there is only one version of the P190, which comes with a 1200W PSU (!!!) which is actually made up of two PSUs joined together, one 650W, one 550W. If this case is aimed at SPCRer's, it is only a very, very small minority of them.

However of course as AntecRep says things can still change.

I based my speculation on:
It will have two sites for food ATX and will be equipped besides with the new food Antec Neo-Link 1 200 Watts.
It will be sold in one version with room for 2 PSU's, and also a version with 1200 W PSU(s).
The latter in is made the association of two food: one of 650 Watts and the other of 550 Watts.
The latter uses a combination of two PSU's....

Well it seems that this whole thread is just speculation, and maybe totally pointless speculation at that.

If the Spec, design, and model(s) have not been sorted out yet, this case could still pull out a few surprises.

Such as the 200mm hole on the side may have a specially designed double layer cover (supplied with the case), that blocks the hole off completely, likewise the 2x 140mm holes could have adapters so 1 or 2x 120mm fans can be used........... that way one case for all, just like the P180, cooling monster OR quiet king, your choice.

We can all speculate, we wont know until Antec actually show the final shipping product, which will of course be followed by a plethora of reviews including SPCR, then and only then will we find out just how good or bad this case will be for "silent computing enthusiasts".

Not that anyone cares, in my opinion the p190 is a step backward to the P180. The beauty of the P180 was SILENCE, and the huge side vent will kill that. Like SPCR has taught me: if it lets air IN, it lets noise OUT.

However for a workstation/sli setup, i guess it could work well -- all that P180 goodness mixed with loads of air in/out. But not enough to [pardon pun] blow my skirt up ... not that I'm wearing a skirt. :P

Did you know that if you take "190", drop the 1 in front and add a 0 at the end, it turns into the Antec 900? It's true.

That is correct, you started that speculation about it being a typo. Nothing wrong with that, I could have done the same.

Edit: There's also a "P" in P190. Too many typos for being a coincidence if you're asking me.

It's not like the Case market is monopolized by Antec or anything. There are almost too many choices as it is. If you prefer P180 over P190, the choice for you is obvious and Antec is giving more choices. Personally I think Antec's latest offerings are so much better in terms of functionality and design, say, compared to what they had for us 2 years ago.

What I find strange in this forum is that some folks treat hardware vendors as if they were their fiancee or something. And they betrayed them sometimes. :D Well, even so, the vendors are merely giving more choices and you're the one that can betray them!

It makes me think the 2 PSUs are not the same class, but one for the main system and one for the GPU.

OK guys, you seems to have some difficulties, let me help you, since French is my first language.

Here's the correct translation, babelfish mixed everything up!

Antec's P190 will dispose of two rooms for PSU's and will be equipped with the new Antec Neo-Link 1 200watts. This last PSU is two PSU's, one of 650 watts and the other of 550watts, linked together.

End of Phil's translation. :)

So basically, yes the P190 has two PSU's rooms, but they're already used by the two power supply that comes with it.

I hope this helped a few of you lolll.

A thread without pics is like a day without sunshine.

P190, 900, Spot Cool, Notebook Cooler S and EarthWatts:

You can clearly see the 2 PSUs with 1,200 watts total. Add 2 8800GTXs or R600s, 2 FX-74s, and 85 hard drives and you can have a wienie roast over the top exhaust grilles. :)

The Power Utilities industry must love the Computer industry.

That looks pretty much like i would have wanted the P180 to start with.. Almost identical layout inside, but significantly longer.

Thanks for the pics Goldmember. I welcome EATX support, but looks like P190 sidepanels are also singlelayered, like the ones used in P150. P180 sidepanels are much better. And inclusion of two PSUs totalling 1.2KW is the final nail in the coffin, as far as SPCR is concerned.

From the first post (translation):
The side panels will be always composed of a double layer as well as possible to isolate the noises emitted by the case.
Maybe we haven't heard everything about it just yet, I mean it's not impossible that it will show up without PSU's as well.

The p190 would be ok if it's available without PSU's and if there is an optional solid left side panel available. The extra length is a definite plus for SMP motherboards, or just more elbow room. Given that extra space and likely hotter hardware the second top fan is not unreasonable, though likely unneeded most of the time.

The 900 is already on the Antec website

Uhmmmm, I know. That's why I said the panels have the same design as in P150. Yes, technically they are double layered, but the advantage is so minimal it's hardly noticable, P180 panels are much more vibration resistant.

Goldmember, thanks, you made ( with the pictures you link-ed ) the things to be clearly understend. After i soo the pictures I know now that the P190 is more an upgrade for P180 than a replacement.

PS : I admire you for being meek in your search for this pictures

My modding plans for my case is similar but.

So I like this one. But the side panels don't look as good as on the p180.

A small wishlist:

1) A factory-supplied set of blanking plates to optionally fit in place of each fan (as in NSK2400/Fusion).

2) Relocate the fan in the bottom chamber to the front, in front of the HDDs (the central fan is a nice idea in theory, but in practice causes more problems than it solves).

3) Hard drive suspension option as in P150/Solo - would this require too much redesign?

4) Cosmetic tidying up of the inner front panel, and do something about that horrible door, which is one of the things I hate most in the whole universe... have a look at the Lian Li clone to see what it should look like (without compromising airflow efficiency of course). I suppose this might mean expensive retooling, but it's not going to be a cheap case anyway and I'm sure most people would pay a bit extra for something that looked and felt, as well as performed, like a top-end item.

5) A white option... :P

Interesting the way this is panning out vs what was thought last year, the P190 is now confirmed a seperate box and not a replacement for the P180, which has been improved with the P182.

Well you're talking about a few people who wouldn't realize that Antec makes products for other consumers than the desktop SPCR crowd.
Mats wrote:They made it for people who have hot running EATX systems with many components. My guess is that some people over at 2cpu.com will be very happy over this one.

A lot of people seems to be disappointed, but I really can't see why. Do you think that everything that Antec does must be done for SPCR-people?
Or is it just that you were dreaming of a P180 successor?
