How are the Coolermaster Wave series of cases

Post by falcon26 » Sat Dec 23, 2006 7:47 pm

I'm thinking about getting the coolermaster wave case with the window. The paint job on it looks awesome and it looks really cool. But I was wondering how well it is in reguards to quietness. Anyone have one care to share their thoughts on this case :-) Here is the case I was talking about:

Since the case has only 80mm fans, a quiet system with the components in your sig may actually be more difficult than in your SLK3700 (from your sig). Smaller fans = more RPMs / unit of air = more noise. But the case does look really really good.

Actually that was going to be one of the first things I was going to replace. I just got a ac 80 mm fan that produces 2000 rpms at 20 DB. And I was only going to use an exhaust fan I was going to get rid of the intake fans....

I've heard people complain that all aluminum cases are quite prone to vibration and buzzing, due to their lower density.

I had the case in silver, it was a pain in the ass. Had 3 of the coolermaster riflebearing LED fans in it (the supposedly quiet ones) and it was so loud, I couldn't sleep with it on in the OTHER room.

If you're looking at that case, look at the Silverstone TJ05, looks VERY similar, 120mm fans, and a steel chassis.

The wave master is a great looking case and one of my personal favorite stock case designs ever, to bad they are noisy and have poor cooling. Basically I would get one for case moding project or something but for a quiet computer stay away from that thing. Basically the front intake is far to restricted to get good air flow, and with only one 80mm exhaust fan to cool it aluminum resonance is the last thing you gotta worry about.

Now if only they would combine the looks of the Wave Master with the cooling and noise dampening of the P180, we would likely have the Ultimate computer case.

Errrrr I didn't want to hear that :-( Well I guess I'll find out. I have a feeling I got this case for xmas from my sister. Along with a new corsair 620 watt psu. I just love the love and feel of this case, its hands down the best looking case I've ever seen. I'm not to worried about cooling. I run everything stock, and high temps don't really bother me. Noise on the other hand does. So I guess I'll find out tonight :-)

Well I got that case and it looks beautiful hands down the best case I've ever seen. I put everything nice and tidy :-) Temps are the same as my antec 3700bqe only problem is, its louder than the antec case. Everything is dead quiet except the HD, for whatever reason its much louder than the antec case. But all in all I very pleased....

I can't believe how much louder the hard drive is. It sounds more like a raptor drive now :-( What would cause this? Or better yet how can I quiet the drive down?

If you mounted it directly to the case with screws, that's your problem. You need to suspend it.

Bingo that must be it, because that is exactly how it is installed in their. Is their another way of doing it without suspending it? I think that way looks really really ugly and cheap, imo mind you :-)

There is plenty of ways to suspend your drive, from used underpants to Stretch Magic. Or just lay it on some foam at the bottom of the case. Have a look in the drive suspension thread, lots of pictures, some are ugly, some are nice, most of them work.

You can also get an enclosure, the scythe quiet drive, mcubed vertical silence and smartdrive 2002C are good. The best is the HomeBrew by alleycat.
