Antec 2007 lineup

Slightly against cases with fans of sizes over 120mm, there's no replacing them. You may find some 140mm fans, but 200mm, I strongly doubt it. So if you'd think the 200mm is too loud, you can undervolt it, but if you just think the sound to airflow rate sucks, there's nothing to it but to shut it down.
Or perhaps replace it with several 92mm fans

Paint
I'll probably go for a Fusion Black instead of a micro as my HT system has completely changed in the last 2 months. However, I've heard nothing more about the new Fusion - how long does it take to paint a case a different colour???

Firetech,
Just to make your decision more complicated, I think Antec is coming out with a NSK2450B.
Found another pic from Akiba and a lot of pics from Links.
I also found some pics of the new Solo White. Looks like a P150 sans power supply.

Whoa, that NSK2450B looks very nice. Full black color, stealthed drive, no stupid knob that wouldn't get used anyway, and hopefully a reasonable price.
Does anyone know if the front panel is aluminum or just plastic? Aluminum would have been very nice.
PS, pity I don't have a home theater, much less my own apartment/home to use it.

Haha, I was lost in translation. Thanks for that effort.
So the difference between the 2400 and the 2450 is a bigger PS, the stealth optical drive, andthe brushed front? Oh, and I see front firewire too.
Yeah dude, if they are already for sale in Japan, then they should be in Australia very soon.

hravn,
Don't worry be happy. You can always rest assured that a newer product will be released soon after we purchase the previous model. I think my Solo will keep me happy for a while, despite what Antec may have up their sleeves.
Yes, that seems to be a NSK2400 sitting on a NSK2450 non-B. And, I agree with the others that it probably has a thin layer of brushed aluminum encasing thick plastic.
Take care.

Aw, what's a few more months? I meant when we buy a product and then the manufacturer sneaks out a new model immediately after. Oh Snap! Hate when they do that.hravn wrote:Heh.. yeah, I guess I'll buy the NSK2400 instead of waiting for a couple of months for the NSK2450 to become available in Sweden...
So, if you really like the 2450 more then you might as well wait. At least you get the new Volvo's and Ericsson's before the rest of us.

Not Happy! After various discussions, I just received this response from an Antec rep who was kind enough to enquire with Antec Japan:
I have of course appealed the decision
I suggest if you are interested in this case, that you raise a support ticket with Antec questioning them about it. After all, they already have the tooling set up for it
the NSK2450B is only made for Japan and will not be out in any other countries. The case was specially made for a ....company in Japan...

What the hell? That's just downright stupid. 2450B seems like an excellent compromise between 2400 and fusion, or upgrade for 2400 if you will. Aluminum front for looks, stealthed drives for quiter ODD operation when watching movies and FireWire port for connecting your video camera. One could go with 2400, but it doesn't have firewire port or stealthed drives, and it has plastic panel that doesn't go well with other htpc components. Fusion has all of that, but it also has VFD which doesn't work correctly and knob which never gets used (do you get up from the couch to adjust volume on your receiver via knob or do you simply use remote?).Firetech wrote:Not Happy! I'm still getting the 'not outside Japan' line.
Anyone else contacted Antec on this one?

p190 addresses my main complaint
honestly, my main complaint with the p18X series is that the f*****g hooks break off. the p190 doesnt use stupid, cheap plastic hooks. thereby, I am going to purchase it. what todo until then though.... I wish it were out already god damn it. I just purchased another p180 and the anxiety those side panels cause me is just not worth the hassle.

I contacted them too about the NSK2450B. I was so excited when I started to read this thread, then ... what a let down. I have every other part for my HTPC now but case/PS, and was despairing of having to choose between Fusion and 2400, neither was quite right. the 2450B is ... *perfect*. It's going to be very, very, VERY hard for me to choose one of the others now, knowing this is out there ...
Is it a realistic option to consider ordering this form a Japanese source? Are there PS compatibility issue if you do?

the hooks I'm referring to are the plastic/rubber hooks on the side panels. they snap off too easily. I honestly think that within a year most people will be missing at least one. It's just as lame as a power button falling out, a cd-rom drive button not working, a power supply buzzing. It's a manufacturing defect to have chosen plastic for the hooks, and means that the case won't last. I personally broke 3 hooks off in 5 months. Antec sent me a new side panel but, honestly, what's the point? I'll just break them off again, no matter how careful I am. I'm in and out of my computer all the time and I don't want to change that.
Anyways, I for one found it incredibly disapointing that the p182 didn't have a superior hook mechanism on the panels. Oh well. If the p190 is $500 I'm going to skip it. It's a nice case if you're running a dual processor config though. That'll definitely be my next build. And in regards to the side fan... I really don't see how that's any different than covering up any other fan. The two top 140mm fan holes can be shut up with some nexus or acoustipak material. And, an acoustic foam block can be put in place of one power supply.
I just hope that the p200 is affordable and doesn't use those silly plastic hooks.

Antec has gone mad as well as an enthusiast niche market. But many will want to select their own PSUs. Will the setup allow for that?
Regardless, it's available for over $100.00 less if you find a site that has it in stock. I've ordered it for $368.00 and hope to sell the PSUs. Why do I want the case? How do you cool an 8800GTS effectively in a P180?
