Antec 2007 lineup

Post by Kai2810 » Wed Jan 10, 2007 4:06 pm

Hi guys.

Not sure if this is posted.

Found this site compiling Sonata III, P182 and P190 info, along with screenshots. Sonata III and the P182 have been posted, so P190 is the new stuff here.

http://www.thetechlounge.com/article/35 ... ct+Lineup/

2 140mm fans at the top, and the 20cm fan seems to be located directly over the graphics card area in the P190...looks good! :D

-----------------------------------------EDIT

OOPS, have already been posted in [CES 07] P180 evolution: the P182.

P190 will be my next case. im planning a completely passive setup (with cpu and gpu both having ginormous heatsinks) and let the case fans do the work (quietly of course)

Do curves not exist within Antec Towers?

I'm more than interested in a Micro Fusion. I might actually hold off on my HTPC until it's released.

Any idea on how long these things actually take to get released? Are these prototypes, or stuff that is near-production?

Found a better picture of the Micro Fusion.

I really like it. You can see the regular Fusion to the right for a size comparison.

It doesn't look like hifi, i think a HTPC should look like hifi and not like a computer. But that's just me, i don't have any need or want for a HTPC.

The Micro Fusion we played with in Vegas was a pre-production prototype, so it's probably a few months from being available. The P190 and P182's were full production samples, so I imagine that they'll be on store shelves very soon.

The Micro Fusion is very interesting. Some aspects of it are still a big foggy though. The PSU is non-standard, which puts pressure on Antec to make sure that what comes with the case is pretty quiet right out of the box. You won't be able to swap it with another PSU very easily. That PSU does not yet appear anywhere on Antec's (or Seasonic's, its likely manu.) website yet. And I think I lot of people will make a fuss over the half-height PCI slots - it certainly does limit the options for TV tuner, sound cards and the like, but is a necessary evil to get a case that slim. Picking the right mobo will be key.

They stole my idea with the p182 about routing cables around the back of the mobo tray. I want royalties! :P

Rusty: Thanks for the info on P190 and P182. I've contacted Antec and the rep said that Antec has no further info about the release or any thing else related to the P190. He would not comment on the previously announced February release date.

Do you have any idea why Antec is being so tight-lipped about this case? It is my first choice for a new system that is just about ready to be built, but like many others I've got nothing but speculation to go on.

More pics.

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getart ... rticID=550

The P190 does NOT appear to be a silent enthusiasts dream like the P180, it looks like a mix of the P180 and the 900 Gaming case.

I did note that the 120mm fan at the back is blowing INTO the case, and the 2x 140mm fans at the top are blowing out.

It also comes with 2 PSU's, one 650W and one 550W, this is utterly ridiculous.

On the plus side it has better cable management, and is deeper.

Overall, this is interesting, but I doubt it will even get close to the P180's noise level.

Cheers Firetech! How's life in the great country/continent of Australia? Very good I suspect 8). Yeah, Antec needs to release that ASAP. The Fusion Black should look very nice next to all the new HDTVs on the market.
Thanks for that link Andyb "Samurai Master". :P I totally missed jmke's article. He took a lot of good pics including the Fusion Black and the P150 iPod edition. Haha.

I also doubt whether it will ever get near the P18xs sales level which continues to sell like crazy. The P190 release seems to be a reaction to AMD's misguided dual socket 1207 FX release which was a reaction to Kentsfield. I guess we will eventually see how the P190 does.

Not so sure myself, there are going to be very very few buyers of 4x4 systems. This seems to be a reaction to the hundreds of requests for a deeper P150 and P180, alongside some marketing twat who thinks that more AND bigger fans sell, even if they are attached to a case that was designed from the outset to be as silent as possible.

This is just plain silly, who will but this..... not the silening crowd because its too noisy, not the OC crowd because the 900 Gaming doe the same for less cash.???

I think they just mounted the fan wrong way around; this pic shows it as exhaust http://www.thetechlounge.com/view+image ... es/292.jpg they way it should be:)

only rear in-take case I know of is from the Arctic Cooling series

Yep, exactly similar like other Antecs:
Too short for long graphic cards and many drives:

CM Stacker STC-T01 and RC-810 are much better.

Check Lian Li cases, they have gone to extreme with short curvy airflow loops.

I wonder if there will be a "micro" version of the nsk2400?

the micro fusion looks like a reworked Antec Minuet 300 in a horizontal orientation

I assume you drive an 80´s Volvo then? Superb cars, but not very exciting in stock form. Kind of like antec cases, very practical, very safe, very boxy, designed by engineers and not the marketing department. In a way they are the best products available, but i would much rather have an Alfa Romeo 8)

The new Solution cases and the Sonata III are hot.

They may not be super curvy, but they're still awesome. Kind of like the current Citroën designs as opposed to the current Alfa Romeo designs.

Why don't they make a P18x with P150-style HDD cages? The install through the front, suspend or soft-mount setup was a huge success.

I'm still waiting for a case that offers a flexible drive rack top to bottom, where each bay accepts a 5.25" drive or a HDD soft-mount sled on rails, and at the boundary between bays are hooks for suspension. Let the user decide where to put opticals and provide Kama Bay-style fan/filter assemblies for everywhere else. I figure a P180-sized case could suspend 2 HDDs in the bottom chamber and 4 in the top, plus an optical drive, with reasonable intake impedance. I'm gunna try to suspend 6 HDDs in a P182, but it isn't going to be easy.

There's plenty of cases available with 5,25" slots from top to bottom.

Citroën is quickly recovering from their boring period. Some of the new designs are very cool and i would imagine them to age pretty well. I would take the SM with the maserati engine over any new Citroën though  As for Alfa Romeo design... (insert love smiley here)
