Xclio case w/two 220mm fans. More photos....

Pardon me Felger Carbon if this is a repost.... This is a big case that avoids some of the difficulties of the 220mm case line-up. First......the fans are off-set on the side panel, giving the builder the ability to use any of the tall heatsinks. And there is room over the top of the PSU area to add a passive vent facing the rear. With a vent in this area, a fanless PSU is an easy possibility, with plenty of airflow in the area. And with a vent facing the rear, the other side vents could be eliminated. It looks like there is a stock vent hole in the top, right over the PSU. And......with two side fans of this size, there would be plenty of airflow over the HD area. And it looks like there is no venting to the front.....making it quieter from the front. I suspect with the right fan control, you could run these two big fans really slow and quiet.....maybe 250rpms or less. This could be the basis for a quiet setup using the twin 220s only. :)

Hmm, it sure looks interesting. But both fans are intake? I don't know if putting a 120mm fan at the rear would be enough to exhaust the air.

But it deserves the name "Wind Tunnel" :)

You simply don't need any exhaust fans in this sort of setup. With vents in the right places, the positive pressure just pushes right out. You set a PSU on top with it's own fan removed, and you get airflow through the PSU just like a fan was there. Felger Carbon is doing this with his single 220mm setup.

I'm waiting for the version of the Windtunnel with two 360mm fans. This case with one of them will come on the market next month at 119EU.

I've got 68W to dissipate! :P

I know you're only kidding, but at some point there has to be some kind of limit; after all the logical extrapolation of this trend is to locate your PC in the vicinity of the nearest wind turbine  Overkill has taken on a whole new meaning; I'm pretty sure that fan is larger than my entire case!

Keep in mind the 220mm fan is called the 250mm or, in some places, the "26cm"! That "360mm" fan is likely to be not much more than a foot in diameter. If you're saying, "220mm is big enough!", I agree. Still, it was fun watching "Baywatch" with the gals wearing 30lb of silicone... ahh, excess.

It's a nice case, however. I'm sure Bluefront and Felger Carbon could build one these in their sleep, and it would probably out perform the the retail one.

So the real question is which one would an SPCR member want to use the retail or the Bluefront and Felger Carbon special ?

These big fans are retarded. I had one and it really messed up the air flow and actually increased cpu temp. I then tried passive and didn't really work. It was an experiment on a 805d though.

360!!! lol

If anybody would sell a 22cm fan as a 25cm fan, that'd be illegal and they'd probably be sued. Besides that, 36cm is just about 1.2 foot, so that is indeed not much more than a foot.

I'm pretty sure that if they say it's a 360mm fan, it is indeed a 360mm fan, if it's not, you are 100% entitled to a refund.

The common 220 mm fan is,220mm measuring the blades. It comes with a bezel,typically...and the outer diameter of that bezel/frame is 250mm.

Unlike the "Silent" fan that,at 1200 rpm CLAIMS half the db of quiet fans at equal RPM-I don't see this as illegal-anyone can easily measure diameter-but not db,or cfm,or rpm.

Big Fans are not retarded....getting one of the "spaceheater" CPU's and THEN trying to get it cool and quiet...... 8) well....

The problem in part is that the "stock" cases on the market have really not given focus to the Silence factor. Like a lot of stuff-they aim more to the Gamer/hot rodders who will try to squeeze the max performance from stuff-then try to make the racket tolerable.

The 220 mm fan,in a THOUGHT OUT system can be the only fan and at under 400 rpm-be quiet. The most common 13 blade has been used as low as 4v,which means less than 300 rpm.

Here's a LINK to the mfg page with more photos of this case. It certainly sounds like a sturdy setup with a 1.0mm steel chassis.

Looking at those pics, the case styling is exactly like that of the (much smaller) Aplus CS-188A, which I bought two of at $25 each! Just one big fan instead of two, but the front bezel and the door are identical.

Did I mention that I bought the smaller case for $25? Two of them at that price? :D
