Swap power supply in P150, how?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Swap power supply in P150, how?

Post by _MarcoM_ » Fri Jun 22, 2007 11:57 am

Not sure if this is the right section, anyway...

I want to remove my "old" Enermax 600W PS from my Antec P150 and replace it with an Enermax Liberty 500W. The 600W model will be used on my bros pc. Is it possible to swap PS in the P150 without unmount the motherboard?

No space on bottom, no removable cover on top, i'm forced to remove the motherboard? To much cablegami, to much lazy

I tried to remove the power supply out through the front drive bays of my Solo but it was a little too wide. I also tried tilting and twisting it to get it out the front, but it couldn't clear some motherboard components. The whole bloody computer had to be disassembled!

You must remove the motherboard.

I had a Solo and I remember struggling with the PSU, but IIRC you don't need to remove your motherboard, only your CPU cooler.

removing mobo

it should be like 8 screws and 5 minutes to pull the board out. definitely worth pulling it instead of risking breaking a cap or cutting a trace on the mobo or soemthing bad.

Heh, 5 min? Aside from all the motherboard connections, I also had to remove my 3 HDs and the cables to give my hands clearance. When it came time to reconnect everything, I even had to remove the exhaust fan for clearance to attach the split 8-pin connector (the split made it a PITA). The memory had to come out so I could have room to connect and organize all the cables around the ATX connector. I was basically reassembling and reorganizing everything from scratch except for the CPU cooler. :o
