Please recommend HTPC/ATX case that fits Scythe Ninja

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Please recommend HTPC/ATX case that fits Scythe Ninja

Post by shaolin95 » Tue May 13, 2008 9:39 am

Hi!
I need a full HTPC ATX case that fits my Scythe Ninja and no windows or any other LEDs as I want it to be totally black and dark. I like my HT room pitch black.
Its an OCed 2160 so air flow is important as well.

I am very curious if such a thing exists, as I have been (and still am) looking for one also.
AFAIK, the minja is the way to go for this type of case (CM28x or others with <120mm fans), otherwise, the case will have to sit vertically (Antec Solo or similar).

Well, it seems we are out of luck....I will probably just get a p182 or something like that...I wanted the Chakra or Phoenix due to their big 250mm fan but it seems the fan takes too much space thus making Ninja installation impossible.

What made you exclude the minja out of your plans ?
I have still not made a decision yet, and was interested in someone else's arguments.

Maybe a 4U rackmount server case.

Interesting but wouldnt 7" still be a bit smaller than what I need? I am still trying to figure that one out though.

Check out the Coolermaster CM Media 280 series cases. They should be tall enough to handle a Ninja.

It fits just fine. Also, the acron nuts on the top of a Ninja are purely cosmetic. You can even remove them, if you need more room.

It woulnd be the first time I do something like that as I had to do that and worst to my accelero S1 vga cooler because it wouldnt fit due to my water cooling tubing setup. :)
So I take it that 7" is the minimum I am looking for? Would that be from wall to wall or from mobo tray to wall?

I don't have the spec in front of me. But I think Ninja is only a bit over 6". Mobo usually sits on a standoff. So, you are looking at another 3/8" for the mobo and the standoff. 7" should be a tight fit. Again. I reemphasized that you can remove the acron nuts. So, you should have plenty of room.

Just pick the server case that you like, and a shop with good return policy.

I would go by "look". Pick something that you like.

This is what I have. Newegg even ship freely.
