Oh well :D
Wondering if the skeleton will ever come the European market then. On the other hand, maybe it doesn't need the CE approval, since itself isn't per se an electrical device. Who knows...

Certainly nothing for cat-owners, hrhr.

I would have to say... no thanks! I only just moved away from a £20 biege box tower case. :-) I'm not ready for a Skeleton case just yet!

Whatever your opinion, it is certainly generating a lot of interest.

Highly unlikely ( in my opinion) I wouldn't expect to see in europe :(

I don't see much room for a power supply in the mini. Could it be an external brick like a pico PSU!?!?

Edit:

Acording to TweakTown the mini will have a 180W external power supply, but the review does not say if it will be fanless.

I can see it now, a monstrous 9-10" long video card hanging out the front of those cases. Though you may have to cut the front strut off for excessivly long cards to fit.

This will definately require some good cable management to make it look good. But i can see people who would think this is really cool. People who like windows, and lights n such. Having an open case would just be another "cool" factor.

Idunno about how quiet it will be though. Solid surfaces is typically a good way to reflect noise inward, and thusly keep it from getting out of the box. You wont have that layer of sound dampening with this case. Though you will likely be able to cool everything but the PSU with just the one fan on top. So just 2 fans in the system. Hopefully the fan on top can be undervolted to run quietely. If not this case will be mostly garbage for silencers since 220mm isnt a standard size to replace the fan.

HDD noise or PSU noise will likely be the hardest thing to keep quiet in it.

P183,P193,NineHundred2 seems to have been announced simultaneously with Skeleton.

I'd certainly be vary weary with liquids around this stand!

I can't see anyone other than hardcore overclockers being interested in it.

:D Keeping on theme, they could add some plastic eyebrows on the front of the ‘case’ that could be connected to a thermal sensor so that as the temperatures rise so do the eyebrows a la Roger Moore. Or maybe hook up a thermal sensor to a software utility that plays snippets of Bond dialogues at different temperature thresholds: ‘Ooh Miss Money Penny it’s getting a bit steamy in here.’ etc.

Nice catch, but what a shame to see the mini-P182's carbuncles transplanted to the full-size model.

The opening up of the side intake slots was an obvious step, but are those horrible holes in the door really necessary? And, oh, joy, the arrowhead makes a reappearance...

I guess this really needs its own thread, so I can bitch at great length without being OT...

Looking at the new Sonata, they're assuming that the case is to the user's right... which it isn't for any of the three desktops I work with. My home computer is to my left, my workstation is to my left, and my mother's computer (I'm teaching her the ways! :D) is to her left. That vent on the right hand side is kinda... bad.

Also - a VGA slot fan? Doesn't Antec know any better than to get rid of those things? I've never been impressed by any of them in any situation...

All that the P184 needs is a window and a pre-installed neon, and we're good to go.

The new Sonata would be nice if it had the Solo's HDD mounting. This is just horribly bad.

Disappointing. It's hard finding decent computer cases, and Antec certainly isn't helping - as time goes by, they screw things up more and more.

Wrong. This mounting system is actually very good at keeping the vibrations to the hard disk. It works much better than the horizontal soft-mounts (which aren't really soft mounts due to the weight of the hard disk).

I like the change of the placement of the lower drive cage fan in the P183. It accommodates those of us who have 4 or more hard drives in the case, as the current set up is terribly inefficient for hard drive cooling. A fan could be run far slower (and quieter) in the front position and have a better cooling effect on the drives.

I'm not entirely on board with the additional holes in the front door. I like the closed look of the 180B I have now.

When will Antec learn we do not want the power button behind the door?!

Are you listening Antec? You kindly put the USB and front audio ports beside the door so why can't this be done with perhaps the most frequently accessed feature: the power button? I would practically never have to open the case door if it weren't for the hidden power button.

It's is about the only aspect that frustrates me on all of Antec's latest cases.

Sorry for the loud, shouty text but I am really hoping Antec read this. I know whenever I've commented on this "issue" before most owners agree.

I'm not too impressed with the new stuff from antec this year. Nothing yet has surpassed the 3480 for mATX or the SOLO for ATX in my opinion. They are still the top 2 cases on the market.

I personally couldn't imagine powering-up my computer with a button... Ctrl+Esc is what does it for me.

I'm not a fan of the holes in the front door either, but I definitely see this as a response to all the crying and whining about the P180's poor airflow.

You asked for it, and you got it people.

P.S. Am I the only one saddened by the fact that they omitted the dust filters? They may not have been the best but they were a nice, thoughtful touch.

New Sonata side vents

Post by BeerParty » Thu Jun 05, 2008 11:55 am

It would make sense to position the case on the right of the user...
Um, if that is the assumption, then why is the door hinged on the left (which means the logical place for the system is to the left of the user)?

Maybe this is another case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing (pun intended )?

As long as the Solo doesn't disappear from the sales list, everything is fine, no?

Yes, there's been a fair amount of "crying and whining" as you so charmingly put it, but it happens to be justified in some circumstances.

I still don't see the need for the door holes - they might be necessary for the mini-P182 with its shorter and more restricted side vents, but the P183's new design looks plenty open enough to manage without them. Maybe it's simply a clueless attempt to establish a consistent look across the range - I suppose a standard P182 door would be retro-fittable, but I doubt if they'll be available as replacements once the P183 starts to replace the P182 in channels. :(

The 4 door holes completely ruin the look of the once stylish case... I'm glad I have a P182. The more open door rims look good and will obviously improve airflow.

I have the mini p180. The front holes there look nice but on the new p183 they look horrible.
Anything new on the "Fusion Max" at computex?
