Case with 2.5" bays so no converter needed?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Case with 2.5" bays so no converter needed?

Post by Turas » Thu Oct 30, 2008 8:11 am

Are there any cases out there with 2.5" bays instead of 3.5" ones. I know I can get the adapters to convert a 2.5" drive to a 3.5" but would prefer to just have a case built for it from the start. I am looking for one with 4-6 2.5" bays and 2-3 5.25" bays.

I currently use a device that goes into the 5.25" bay and give me 4 slots for the 2.5 drives. I have tried two diffenent brands and one was too cheap and the drive carriers fell apart in less han a month. The other one was better but the fans were to loud. I cut the fan wire to fix that problem.

I think part of the point of 2.5" drives is that you can suspend them in 3.5" bays making them even quieter.

Yea i would rather suspend them in 3.5" bays than hardmount them in 2.5" bays. Besides, other than (expensive) speciality and HTPC cases, i think pretty much every case now is designed for 3.5's in mind.

I am planing on putting all SSD drives in them so I am not worried about the suspension.
