Powder Coating Case Interior?

Post by Drewlander » Mon Dec 28, 2009 9:34 am

I am thinking about getting the interior of my case powder coated and I was wondering if there is any type of coating that I would also dampen the case? The case is solid aluminum. It's a thicker, sturdy aluminum, but I would just like to lower the resonant frequency of the metal if possible. Thanks for any input.

The coating is very thin, so I don't see how it could do much acoustically. You need mass to dampen or lower the resonant frequency.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I figured. I still might try and see if coating the case with something like that stuff used for truck bed liners helps. The case is pretty snug, and I don't really have the tolerance to add much thickness to the interior of the case.
