The P180 is Back?
I just got a newegg email with the P180 case for a pretty good price.
I thought that case was long gone and was replaced by the P182 and now the P183 (which I own).
Did Antec bring back a new version of the P180? If they did, did they fix any of the known issues?
I like the front firewire connector more than a front eSATA like on the P183.

It is in stock and the search listing shows they had a coupon for $60 off yesterday (now expired). So back to $149.99 (versus $89.99 yesterday).
They must have dug up some old stock...Newegg let me 100 into an order though so they must have found a bunch
Antec doesn't list the original under current Performance One or discontinued Performance One categories. So Newegg probably just found a bunch.

The newegg photos show that the top fan is different than what's shown in the old silent PC review article. The SPCR article shows that the top fan sticks up from the top of the case. The newegg photo shows the flat top (like on the P183).
I guess I'll find out Friday. I actualy ordered one yesterday (with the discount).

Newegg's photos simply don't include the "spoiler". If you look closely at the Newegg photo, you can see the grooves that it would go into. That's the only difference there, at least from the photos in the listing itself. It arrived today
The box says it's a P180 v1.1 (which came out in 2006 according to the P180 review on this site).
I opened it and it is, in fact, a P180. It's very similar to my P183 with the obvious differences. I looked closely at the P182SE review here on spcr and besides the stainless steel and snake light features of the SE version, I can't see any difference between this P180 v1.1 and a P182.
While it is new, I don't think it's a new version with any improvements over what was sold when the P180 v1.1 was a current in 2006. I don't know how or why newegg is selling them in 2010.
I paid $115 (after rebate) for a P183 in Nov 2009 and this P180 cost me $90 (with the $60 discount newegg offered last week. Not a great price for the old design but good enough.
As I said earlier, the front 1394 connector is much more usefull to me than the eSATA.

One of the major (IMO) differences between the P180 and P182 is the ability to route cables behind the motherboard in the P182. At least according to Devon's postscript about the v1.1 in the P180 review, it sounds like the P180 v1.1 may still lack that. Other than that, I do believe the v1.1 is essentially a P182 (the changes from P180 to P182 were purely evolutionary).

The P180 I just bought looks identical to the picture in the P182 review wrt cable routing. You can see the motherboard tray openings are the same as the P182 (and similar to my P183).
Maybe this was among the last P180s produced and it they made these changes towards the end of the production run or maybe spcr missed these things when they added the description of the v1.1 mods. Maybe Antec decided it was better marketing to rename the case to call attention to the new changes vs just making improvements to an old model #.
Can anyone else see any difference between this P180 and a P182? The manual it came with is dated 2007 and covers both the P180 and P182 and never calls out any differences between them.
Nice! It's possible it was an oversight on Devon's part (or the info didn't get to him), but it's also possible that you might have a v1.2. Who knows, but it does look like that version of the P180 is indeed "the same" as the P182 (I've got a v1.0 P180 and a P182). At least, I'm having trouble thinking of anything that had been changed for the P182 that hasn't been brought up either in the postscript of the review or from your verification there.
So I guess this group of P180s are basically just silver versions of the P182.

Brings a tear to my eye. The P180 is so beautiful, I still remember the feeing of awe when I first opened the box of my first P180. I then went P182 briefly before going small with my 1380.
Antec P180 is a milestone in my PC hardware history, my first quality case. I've used good cases before but nothing like the build quality of the P180. It's in a hall of fame or sorts, beside other stuff like the Celeron 300A and the Cuda IV. It's a legend.
