Antec 3700 & Sonta - will Audigy2 platinum drive bay fit

Post by DaveSimmons » Sat Jul 05, 2003 10:08 pm

Is anyone here using an Audigy2 platinum drive bay front panel in a 3700 or Sonata? Does the drives door close properly?

I'm going to get one of those cases for my new desktop system and wonder if the front panel will fit.

Dave I have the Audigy 1 Platinum drive bay in a sonata case, and it closes no worries. My understanding is the Audigy 2 bay is the same size.

I don't have one in my SLK3700 so I can't say for sure if it will clear or not but I have measured the clearence and here's what I got: at the outer edges of the 5.25" bays ther's about 1/4" of clearence, in the middle there's about 1/2" of clearence.

Someone also suggested that you could mount your Audigy (or fan controller or whatever) below flush so it will clear. It may look a little funky but the door will be closed anyway, right? :)

If any of you knows of a case in which the Audigy Bay thingy doesn't fit, please let me know. I'm building a PC and i'm still choosing a case, so I want a case which will accomodate the Audigy nicely. I'm thinking of choosing an Antec case, but i'm not sure.

Here's the thread which describes the case that I need:

FYI, The DMX 6Fire front panel also fits with the door closed, so theres about a pinky finger's
worth of wiggle room between the door and the bay front, at least in the middle.
