Opinions on Antec DF-85?

Hello all,

I wonder what SilentPCReview thinks about the Antec DF-85? I don't expect it to be silent but I wonder if it's a decent case. I'm enjoying my 182 and it's a great case and pretty quiet.

Thanks!

Well, one thing to keep in mind is that the DF-85 is really a dressed-up Antec 1200, with a few extra baubles added to it. It's not in the class of a P-series case, but it is workable.

That being said, I hope to have one soon if Antec comes through for me. If done properly it could make for an ok server case, which is what I plan on doing with mine. Some of the features, like the FleetSwap connectors are nice. The eSATA bay at the top could also be useful for a removable backup bay.

All in all, though, I think it's too big and requires too many fans for a standard PC. Extreme gamers would go better use of it, or maybe you could tuck it away in a closet to make it tolerable (what with the LED fans and all).

The DF-85 is ugly. I like the 1200 better! From a silence perspective, at least you can suspend 12 drives in the 5.25" bays, rather than hard mounting them in the DF-85. Still, neither makes for a decent "silent" computing case, and are expensive.

Might not be inexpensive but you get a lot of ugly and poor design choices for the money. ;)

I think the Dark Fleet series are ugly, at least the 1200 wasnt so bad.

Unless you are going 2-3 high end gpu's I would stick with the P182 fo sure.
