Weird positional whine

Post by Leopardi » Sun Nov 07, 2010 6:30 pm

I have 2x 800rpm GT and 2x 1150rpm GT running at ~800rpm in a Define R2 situated under my desk, and its pretty quiet before when I move my head to a certain position, then I hear a high pitched *whoooo* multiple times louder than when I keep my head 30cm closer to the monitor. Or when I listen next to the case side panel I don't hear that annyoing whine.

So, is this type of noise somehow silenceable? And I'm curious what's the explanation for this positional noise?

That's probably a resonance. Maybe it's vibration, then try to dampen big panels with something heavy. Or try diffusors/acoustic (pyramid) foam too.
