Greetings -
Considering removing an 80mm stamped grille (bottom right):
and replacing it with a wire guard:
.
Anyone actually done this who can speak to whether they thought
it was worthwhile, in terms of either lower noise, or better temps / airflow?
Thanks,
- Richard

Re: replace stamped grille with wire guard ??
On my systems with exhaust fans like that I just cut away the pattern.
Intake = you can chop up a finger
Exhaust = it'll beat it but it won't cut
but if you want more data than that look at http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articl ... -Noise-107
Honeycomb cut out and replaced by wire grill could be roughly 5% less noise, 5% more airflow at low speeds.
wire grill vs nothing, nothing comes out ahead by another 2% less noise, 4% more airflow.
