Fractal Define R6 - do not buy verdict

Post by MrYellow » Mon Dec 16, 2019 11:26 pm

Hello world.

Proud owner of previous generations of this case - R4 and other products like Node 304.

Heed my warning and do not buy Define R6 for more powerful PC configs with big and hot GPUs (~200W+ TDP). Or rather - you can buy, be expect to spend an extra 50-75 USD/EUR more for additional fans to add/replace the Define R6 stock ones - dynamic-x2-gp-14.

Temps for RTX 2070 Super (non-reference 215W) are easy over 10 Celsius more than you see in benchmarks and reviews across the web.

It will be loud, it will be bad.

Fractal Define support could not care less as well. Avoid their products. I have said my piece.

P.S. R6 works fine for less demanding 150W GPUs.

I'm running fine a GTX1080ti + TR1950x with a two capture cards on R6, and its fine. While the R6 is restrictive, i don't think its totally to blame on your experience, my guess is that its your GPU to blame not the R6.

Here is a very recent thread from another SPCR member that had similar hardware, has a 2070 super and r6, and end up with a great experience.
