Can you remove the PSU shroud? It doesn't seem like it has a functional purpose.

Don't know if it can be removed.

The shroud serves two useful purposes:
- PSU intakes air from the case bottom and expels it out the back. So, PSU waste heat isn't added to the case ambient to affect CPU/GPU/case fan profiles.
- Case ambient doesn't affect PSU fan profile.
Net effect is generally a cooler running PC/quieter fan profiles.

the shroud is fairly perforated, and runs a little over half the length of the interior compartment. the case supports 3x120 or 3x140 front fans, with the bottom most fan's lower half being at-or-below shroud level. so there's a bit of overhang where (relatively cool) front intake can get 'trapped' in the basement when using all the front fan slots. I'm not sure I see how a shroud prevents a bottom-facing PSU dumping air into the case since its exhaust side sits flush with the back of the case anyway. the ambient temperature point intrigues me, and from my temperature probe I know that back corner is one of the toastiest regions of my r6. I've never checked what it's like in the basement, though.
