I just installed my 4800+ X2, and I think I've set up FAH right, but just checking with you guys

I am running 2 instances from 2 seperate folders in console mode. One is machine ID = 1, the other is 2.

Is that right? Anything else I need to do?

Let us know how you get on with your duallie... I think the time for my upgrade (Though I prolly can't strrreeeeettttch to a 4800+... without losing some boy parts when the missus finds out...) is looming...

It seems to be working... Got a FahCore_78.exe and a FahCore_7a.exe running at 50% cpu each. Killing either leaves the other at 50%.

Looks good so far

Both of mine are @100% according to task manager(performance tab)

If I remember correctly I had to install an AMD dual core driver or something to get both cores to run and display two graphs and bars in task manager. Can't remember if I downloaded it or if it was on the Driver disk of the Mainboard.

You really should instal the dual core driver. Without it you have a dual core machine that is only using one core. You should have bought the cheaper single core if that is what you wanted.

Can you link to this dual core driver? If I've been only using half of my X2 4200+...

I think it was on the CD that came with my Mainboard. I will have to scurry through my CD's to see If I can find it. Does your task manager look like this?

My X2 3800+ has been running fine with only one instance. Both cores appear to be at 100%. Am I doing something wrong? Do i need two instances running? This machine is finishing WUs 5X as fast as my 1Ghz Athlon. I figured that sounded about right.

Well, I found the dual core driver and it seems to have speeded up the machine, fairly substantially. It still shows each of the F@H cores at 50%, but that's just semantics. [Edit: I meant that in the Processes tab, it list each at 50%, but in the Performance tab it shows both at the top of the graph...]

You can run two F@H clients and get almost twice as much done, as running one. I am running the CLI client as a service, and then I run the GUI, too. Even with them in different folders, I was not able to get it to work with two copies of the CLI. I thought that the machine ID would let this happen, but...

It does look just like that, but the processes still are limited to 50% each.
Now that I've used it for a while, it does seem to be faster.

I can't say for sure. I had a lot of problems setting up 2 consoles etc., but I know that my temperatures went up when I installed the dual core driver. I didn't run it without the driver long enough to get any kind of PPD average before to compare with PPD after.

Hi, Neil. On my X2 I ran a v5.02 CLI in one directory and a v5.04beta CLI in a second directory, with different machine IDs. That works. They both launch themselves automatically via shortcuts in my start directory (which is reasonable because the machine is always on, and my account is always logged in.)

Guys/Gals remember that to run the client in multiple core, you need to:
1.) have a folder for each. I have FAH1, FAH2, FAH3, and FAH4.
2.) in each of the folder, modify the config with a different ID.
3.) Run the FAH from within each of those folders with the local parameter. If you run it as a server, you will not have to remember to do this every time. This is the most forgotten step.

Wow, setting up dual core is not as easy as the graphical client. I downloaded the Dualie One Click install from OC forum and installed it that way. It set up two folders with seperate clients but for some reason it did not set different machine IDs. I had to change that manually after finding out i was still running one core. It must work now cause my system is now unstable at 1.1 V and I had to bump it to 1.125. Weird cause it never went unstable before even after 3 months of being on constantly. We will see if the extra voltage helps. My room is heating up faster than before. I also had to install EMIII to monitor my work. Pretty much a pain in the a** to get this all working. Hope it can help the cause.

Yeap. You have to modify the machine id manually for those one click install. Also, I had to do what you have to on my laptop going from 1.012 to 1.12 (something like that). Glad it worked out for you.
