Amazing productive work, guys! How long was it since you past 7M?
Posted: Sun Dec 06, 2009 12:17 pm
Thanks guys! It was so close between Aris and I that I'd like to declare it a dead heat for the 8m. Cordis will soon blow past both of us so it seems only fitting that the spoils for 8m are shared.

Somewhere around 5 to 6 weeks. Ridiculous really considering that (I think) I was the first to 'turn Red' with 6k ppd (a pair of quads running affinity changer) - which means back-in-the-day in the region of 5 to 6 months per mill!

I've spent so many hours working on my last college paper I didn't even notice.

Hey y'all, looks like the bracket has been reopened after a while, it's...
You can't stop jhimanka, staying in the top 20 producers, even with production lower than it peaked at this summer! Keep on folding as much as you can!

Cheers guys, yes I've aquired a GTX285 and it's folding away merrily. Highly over-clocked model, BFG OCX I think it is, won't really over-clock any further than already is but good for 9000~9500ppd
Trouble is the stock cooler isn't quiet when card is loaded and worse it has terrible coil whine. My best efforts with super-glue, that worked a treat on my GTX260 have helped and removed the hiss and reduced it somewhat but left a very high pitched squeal. I think it will have to go back to eBay
I think I read somewhere that new(ish) NVidia cards now use (more) digital voltage control components andf don't have the issue any more. I feel a GTX560 (Ti maybe) is in my future, as is an i7-2600k. In fact the i7 is sitting on the shelf behind me waiting on a motherboard! Which maybe a while as my contract just got terminated as of the end of this month... ...or maybe not as I just went for an interview today that I think went well
edit- current folding boxes:
Main PC is Q9400 @3.2GHz with GTX260 216 @ 675/1476/1188 core/shader/mem (Very quiet, even under load)
Second PC is Athlon X4 635 2.9GHz with GTX285 @ 701/1584/1332 core/shader/mem (not very quiet and horrific coil whine - GPU off when I'm around it!)

Hey, I got a squealing 285 too. Don't fold with it anymore, but I still have it in a machine. Hope the job hunt goes well. You're running pretty well now, a boost would send you up pretty far. But for now, you're running neck and neck with Frenchie, and that reminds me...

Hey, another 8 millionaire, give it up for everyone's friend...
Hey buddy, nice work! Looks like you're getting close to catching SebRad, good luck there! But keep up the great work, and keep on folding!!!!

I have a 460 waiting to fold, but I can't make up my mind on a case....
Posted: Fri Sep 09, 2011 3:54 am
yes congrats frenchie on hitting 8,000,000
You'll probably catch me soon as not sure how much longer gonna be running my 2nd system. Which doesn't have a case at all! Motherboard sitting on a book under my desk with PSU, drive etc on floor around it. Fairly quiet, apart from the GTX285, but not proper quiet, which defeats the effort of making my main PC super quiet

Wow, it has been a while since someone hit 8 Million points (on the SPCR Folds Team) - my son's computer is doing great, and we passed 8,000,000 last week!

Hey, congrats, nice work! Keep on folding!
