It also seems the 980 has a lot more grunt for very little additional power usage. Yeah the price of admission stings, but if you want to compete with Cordis......

The system my son has wouldn't fit the longer MSI card - it is using a old SPCR favorite case - an Evercase! Yeah, price was already fairly high, when you have to get a new power supply.

Looks like the new GTX 970 card is doing ~33,000 points every 3 hours. That's about 260,000PPD - holy moly! It took me about 6 years to get my first million points; now it is 1.8M per week!

And if you think how slower than Fermis the Keplers were, when they appeared at first...

Well, just broke a billion points, two 980s and a 980ti keep things humming. Not sure what milestone to look forward to next.

Congrats on that amazing milestone! You are #79 in the entire F@H project, which is impressive.

I think we all hope that our contributions to Folding@Home make a difference in the research.

But probably not for long, Burgalveist is folding like crazy. Maybe if I get a 1080Ti...

We are doing very well as a small team, because we have been persistent. Hardware has exponentially improved - doing 3D calculations on GPU's makes computers about 1,500X more productive.

Oh yeah, get a 1080 ti. I had one machine with a 980, 980 ti and 1080 that did about 1.4 million ppd, replaced the 980 and 980 ti with the 1080 ti, now it's about the same ppd (maybe a little more) for 150 watts less, it's nice. I might stick the 980 ti back in, and see how that goes, but it'll take me back up to 600+ watts for sure. But it's been cooler lately, might be worth a try.
