Can someone please explain how this fanduct works?

The animation starts with a stock setup. That one is clear.
The second setup with the larg heatsink is clear too.
But where's the fan when using the fanduct?
It suggests some sort of chimney effect....?

no chimney effect. the duct uses the case fan effectively as the CPU fan.

Damn, I need a new pair of eyes. Or even some sleep :P
The case fan is clearly shown in the animation with the duct in place.
I guess I got very exited with the 0dBA rating.
My guess is with the case fan still in place this duct doesn't really reduce overall noise.
And the hot cpu air doesn't cirulate through the case anymore that's a big bonus too. (My HDs will like it)

Unfortunately the duct is not for this great cooler :(

The 0dB claim is disingenuous. The case fan is still there making noise. What they're trying to say is there is no additional noise from a CPU fan, which is true enough.

And because there is less recirculation with the duct in place, the temperatures are a bit lower with the duct and one fan than with no duct and two fans.
