Getting there...slowly....

Post by Twigathy » Fri Aug 03, 2007 3:38 am

Hey all,

Long time lurker, have posted a couple of times...

My current setup is:
  • P180 Case
2x Stock P180 fans on low
    Nexus 4090 PSU
E6600 Core2Duo (Which idles at fifty-something C. Loaded never gets up to 80C (The motherboards temperature warning level))
    Scythe Ninja
    RTL-8169 Gigabit card
    Audigy 2 ZS
    Gigabyte 7600GT (Passive cooled)
    Gigabyte P965 motherboard (Passive cooled)
4GB CompactFlash card with linux /boot, / on machine downstairs
    DVD burner
As you can see, this is pretty quiet. No hard drives at all. The only moving parts are the 3 fans (PSU and 2 case) and the DVD drive. But it's still not totally silent! Argh!

Help!

Stop each one of your case fans one at a time, see which ones are making the noise :)

I'd roll the dice that its the antec ones or the PS fan.

You shouldn't have a problem going fanless power supply, either.

After that there isn't anything left to make noise except the dvd drive.
