I've built several PCs over the years, some very loud when I was trying to stretch performance because my budget was holding me back. More recently I've been trying to tone it down without sacrificing performance too much.
I also like to use very efficient parts with little power consumption because during the summer my apartment is already warm enough.
My next project: making custom cables for a not quite ATX but 80+ Silver 255 watt PSU that I found cheaply because low current efficiency generally gets worse the bigger your maximum rating is and I want to try out my new ratcheting crimp tool.
Hopefully that will be enough to power an i5-3570k in a DZ75ML-45K motherboard with 8gb of Samsung green ram, an Asus direct cu HD7790 and a Samsung 840 Pro ssd.
