Need help on Netscape locked up and freeze on finance.yahoo.

Post by Happy Hopping » Sat Sep 08, 2007 10:40 pm

Using Netscape 8.1, when I go to use it the other day, just when they upgraded some graphics, my netscape locks up and crash

http://finance.yahoo.com/

my software locked up and closed by itself

Same thing with viewing the contents of my mail under Yahoo, it totally locks up

But no problem on the main pages of Yahoo.com

So I thought it could be my Java, as I'm only using Ver. 1.5.0 (Build 1.5.0_10-b03)

However, when I launched Netscape 7.1 or 9.0, viewing the exact pages above, I have no problem.

The only other web pages I have problem with is viewing video in CNN:

With Version 7.1 and 8, it says "The video timed out attempting to play. Please ensure that you do not have any Flash Blocking plugins active."

What could cause the above? Could it be my firewall?

Maybe you should try using a browser that ISN'T almost 3 years old. It died around 2002 and was crap long before that.

netscape 8 was quite recent, ver. 9 is just the other months, and they work very nicely all these years

Sounds like a Flash problem.

IE Flash+8.1+yahoo = crash

And your other versions apparently don't have Flash installed. So they can go on yahoo fine but can't play the cnn flash videos.

I'm guessing reinstalling flash might fix it.

I fixed it the other day. I uninstall 8.1.2 and install 8.1.3, and it works. I think it's a bug in 8.1.2

thanks everyone
