Backing up question

Post by JVM » Mon Nov 16, 2009 8:39 am

Using Windows 7 I created a system image backed up to another SSD of identical capacity and model. The backed-up SSD has 4GB more free than the system disk. Why should there be a difference? When making an image of your disk, shouldn't they be same amount free when identical drives are used?

Looks like you have 4GB of space on your SSD reserved by the operating system for some purpose. This is likely the page file - because it isn't actually a true file, it doesn't get included in the backup. It could also be some sort of readyboost/readyboot/prefetch/etc type stuff.

In that case, there is nothing for me to worry about. Thanks!
