So who likes the new format?

I used to like that it looked different from Stanford's board, made it easier to differentiate.
Upon logging on the new doesn't return you to where you left off.
I do save some clicks when I want to use Mr Green.

So it's about the same, only different.

I'm still getting used to it, and have not drawn any overall conclusions yet. I like that this format is wider; fitting the screen (I've got 1920 pixels), so that part is fine. Then color bands are quite visible, as well -- if you can't see them, may tweak your contrast and/or brightness settings?

Oh, the one thing I would like is a way to go directly back to New Posts after posting...

Wait and see is where I'm at.

I still need to get used to it.

When viewing new posts, I don't like the animated scrolling text icon that appears next to some threads. I just have to train my eyes to ignore that distraction.

Also, I had to write this message twice. I hit "Save" which is some sort of "Save Draft" feature. I just assumed it was the "Submit" button. So I hit "back" and found I had to retype this. Now I see there is "Save", "Preview" and "Submit". I don't think I'll ever use the "Save" button unless by accident again.

it works *okay*. i prefer names and avatars and such to be over on the left side, not the right side. on a wide-screen display at fullscreen, forums are a little hard to keep track of who's making what comments if the names are so far from the comments.

I don't see what the fuss is about having user details on the right. I mean, SPCR doesn't have avatars anyway, and user names are double listed on the left, just above the post anyway.

Playing with my contrast helped a lot for me. I guess it's been off for a while :)

I have also just accidentally fallen victim to the save button :(

Maybe put a bigger gap between the Save button and the other 2?

I've not gotten used to the new style yet. I dislike the color scheme.

I'm a fan of Subsilver2 and subsilver2-based styles myself...the board you on this looks kind of ugly...also I don't like uppercase on "last post" etc...

I like this better than the former (although that had become "classic" for silentpcreview), and there are many prosilver based styles that can be more pleasing (like prosilver Second Edition)

I'm sorry but you have to limit the width at some point. Coming to your site, if I have my browser window maximized, it is hard to read. My monitor is 2048 pixels wide. Limit to 1200 or so pixels if you want a wide layout. Most people limit to 974 or 960.

Sentences are easier to read in narrower or multi-column layouts. This is why journal and newspaper sentences don't go across the page. Please change it to a narrower width.

I am happy the board finally went with Subsilver2...

It's clearer, more easy to the eyes

Me too. Quite a difference, it feels as if someone suddenly changed the monitor resolution from non-native back to native and cleaned the screen.

I like this newest look.

If the width is too much, then narrow your browser window? I like the width myself (1920 or 1600 pixels on the second monitor in my case).

Yep, vnice. Only irk I have is the unread post icon for each post (that is, the yellow page icon) is now on the right hand side. Other than that, it's a nice improvement. =]

The "Report post" button is oddly placed. Seems like it's "floating". It should be placed besides the "Quote" button.

I have to say, unenthusiastic as I was about the new theme, I'm really disliking the layout of this one more (position of buttons, icons, etc). Sorry.

Found a feature today I like: the board lets you know if someone posted while you were posting. No need for ninja edits!

Your are so correct - I am on a 30" Samsung @ 2560 x 1600 and I can tell you full screen on any forum on this beast will give you tired eyes in a hurry. Great for picture editing and such but I like my browser set to about 1200 or so pixels wide and full height for forums. I think the new format is fine - but so was the old one.
I say go for what ever is easier for the owners and moderators to keep up and running.
