Zalman ZM80D or Aerocool VM-101 ?

They make noise, too.

Zalman ZM80D or Aerocool VM-101 ?

Post by Bungee » Sun Oct 24, 2004 7:43 am

I simply cannot decide whether to buy the Zalman ZM80D or the Aerocool VM-101 for my noisy Sapphire Radeon 9800.

The Aerocool looks to cool slightly better and maybe has a better design (like the Thermalright XP-90/120).

Zalman is known for their passive coolers, and the new ZM80D has two heatpipes, and it looks easy to attach your own fan to the rails on the front of the cooler.

Any help would be much appreciated.

UP !
According to SilentHardware.de, the Aerocool would be an excellent passive solution

If anyone has some personal experience on the Aerocool VM-101, it would be much appreciated :D

I slapped it on a fx5900 Ultra and have been extremely happy with it. Use search to find the report.

well,i got it! :) any ways it's silent( duh!) and so far so good, instalation took a while, and since i have a XP120, it didnt fit at first, but some filing here and there and now it fits... i can keep my overclock on the core the same as i did with my old unit( artic cooling VGA silencer) and the included ram sinks are always nice :) any who, off to go game with it to ensure longterm heat stability...i would hihgly reccomend this, and almost any zalman product :)

Good to hear :)

I'll be putting off the ZM-80D for awhile longer. I need to find someone to trade my AC Silencer rev 2. modded 9800 Pro for their regular 9800 Pro. The Ramsinks on my current card are too tall to fit the heatpipe over, and on top of that I don't have the original PCI bracket :(

And I just ordered a BQE to replace my Sonata and a new Evercool 92mm since mine has bearing issues....

One step at a time hehe
