They make noise, too.

Like to replace my fan on my Radeon 7500

I have a Radeon 7500 in my system. Since I don't play games, it's good enough for my purpose except that the tiny fan is supernoisey. I was wondering if anyone have a suggested mod to replace the fan with a heatsink.

Here's what I did with my 9100:

1. Wedge the heatsink/fan off with a letter opener (put a credit card under neath it so you don't damage the core).
2. Scrap off the thermal adhesive with the edge of a utility knife or a razor blade.
3. Clean with 99% alcohol & lint-free cloth.
4. Mount on a Zalman NB47J northbridge heatsink with Arctic Alumina thermal adhesive

If you don't want to buy thermal adhesive/epoxy, go with the Zalman NB32J (comes with thermal tape).

I unplugged my fan over 2 years ago and I have never had issues. The small heatsink doesn't even get hot.
