I'm currently looking for a fanless nvidia 6600 AGP graphics card with dual DVI. I haven't found any yet... does anyone know if such a card exists?

AFAIK, the only 6600-based fanless cards are the Gigabyte ones. Neither
the 6600 or 6600-GT are dual-DVI.

Provided that you have sufficient airflow in your case, a Zalman VF700 AlCu can cool a 6600GT passively. Just remove a few PCI slot covers below the card. An Antec Smart Power (1600RPM fan) and a Nexus 80mm provided sufficient airflow for my system (see sig). Peak load temperature was in the 60C region. It idled at around 50C. I have a Phantom now, so I had to reconnect the fan to prevent it from overheating.

If you have less airflow than that, I maybe some fancy ducting will produce the desired results.

well, if I have to modify the stock cooling solution i could just get a fan cooled 6600 AGP dual dvi and slap on a passive zalman ZM80D-HP. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to modify the cooling on my new card... guess thats not possible.

There is an XFX GeForce 6600 GT who has 2 x DVI, but not a fanles one.
But whit an Zalman VF700-series VGA cooler will it be real quiet..

Here is an URL to XFX GeForce 6600-series page:

The ZM80D will not fit on a 6600 AGP, at least in most typical layouts.
Generally, the GPU is rotated 45degrees, as are the HS mounting holes.
This means you'd have to rotate the ZM80D to fit. I tried on an Asus
card... :x

Your best bet is the VF700 on a 6600-GT, but keep in mind that the
VF700 will protrude off the top of your card by as much as 3cm (see
Zalman compatibility chart for more details).

AFAIK the asus line of 6600-cards have their own component layout. But it should be possible to mount the zalman zm80d on a card that follows the nvidia reference layout, like leadtek 6600.

Here the zm80d is mounted on a leadtek 6600GT (leadtek 6600 uses the same layout) http://forums.hardwarezone.com/showthre ... 464&page=3 I think that my case has room for the heatsink sticking out like in the picture in link...

EDIT: Leadtek doesn't seem to have a 6600 with dual dvi. Here is the XFX 6600 with dual dvi. Looks like it uses the reference layout :-)

As long as the GPU is not rotated, it should be able to fit.

hmmm it seems like the price difference between 6600 dual dvi and 6000GT dual dvi isn't that big (about $25 in Sweden). Is it possible to underclock the 6000GT to 300MHz or even less? It would be nice to know that I have the extra processing power if I need it in the future.

The Powercolor Radeon X700 Bravo Edition is a PCI-E card not AGP. See http://www.powercolor.com/product_serie ... e&chp=x700.

Gigabyte GV-N68128DH and GV-N66T128VP are AGP, but have one dvi and one vga output. See http://www.giga-byte.com/VGA/Default.htm.

I'm also looking for an AGP dual dvi card and am having a nrad time trying to find one.

I realize that your request is for fanless, nvidia 6600, AGP and dual dvi. As my need is for dual dvi and agp, I've been looking into this as well allowing the processor to be variable.

At www.zipzoomfly.com I searched for agp with 256Mb and dual dvi. They have a few cards and one that seemed to have the right price point for me is the Asus AX800XL/2DHTV. All of the cards have a stock fan unit. To get to fanless or at least really quiet, I would remove the stock fan and attach the Zalman ZM80D-HP with a Nexus 80mm fan.

What do other people think? Will the following combo meet the original goals?
Asus AX800XL/2DHTV
Zalman ZM80D-HP
Nexus 80mm fan

Check out this thread regarding the Zalman passive solution with the AGP version of the 6600GT. This was revision A and I would expect the D series with 2 heatpipes to cool even better.
